I'm not sure what you mean, but it sounds like you will need to download and install the printer drivers again.

What to do when your printer will not print.


If your unit does not respond at all to print commands and you know that it worked OK previously you could have a corupt driver. First make sure that no wires are disconnected. If the unit is hooked up and turned on, try the following.

To check the status Click on "Start" then "Control Panel" then "Printers and other Hardware" then "View installed printers and fax printers" then click on the printer icon in question.

This should open a new window. At the top click on "printer" scroll down to "properties" and right click on it.

This will open another new window where you can print a test page. If the unit prints a test page but some parts of the print are missing I would replace the ink cartridge or try to clean the nozzles under the maintenance tab in the properties window. If cleaned once or twice and still not printing all parts of caracters I would replace the cartridge.

If the unit gives a message such as " cannot find printer" or "printer not ready" you probably have a bad driver and should reinstall a new one. This is not difficult but requires internet access to download the newest driver.

The manufacturers website would be the best place to get the most up to date driver. To find your particular site google ' manufacturer (ie Canon, HP, Lexmark, etc) drivers'.

Choose the manufacturers site from the list presented. Click on the link to go to the drivers download page. Follow the on screen instructions to locate and download your driver. Install it on your computer and restart the computer.

Now you should have the newest driver and if problems still persist you probably have an electronic control board issue and will need a new printer.

If this was the problem your unit should now print.

My printer does not appear to be printing from the black cartridge. I have tried via the maintenance to clean the heads, but when I print it continues to not print. I have also replaced the cartridges.

Please try this solution

A hard reset of the printer may clear the error. Here is how to perform the hard reset:
1.Shut down the computer.
2.Open the top cover of the printer and remove the print cartridges.
3.Close the top cover of the printer.
4.Press the power button on the printer to turn the printer off.
5.Disconnect the communications, (USB or Parallel), cable from the back of the printer.
6.Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer for one minute.
7.Reconnect the communications cable to the printer.
8.Reconnect the power cable to the printer.
9.Press the printer power button to turn the printer on.
10.Open the top cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
11.Close the top cover and print the calibration page.
12.Restart the computer. If not working, try to clean the ink head manual by removing the cartridge and rub the ink head to a plain paper with alcohol until ink flows on the cartridges and then run the print nozzle or print alignment page. My printer shows ''User intervension required'' other than ''Ready''


The issue may be resolved by clearing the pause printing in the printer driver or by setting up a parallel connection with the computer. Clear pause printing
  1. From the Windows Desktop, select Start , Settings , and Printers .
  2. Right-click the HP LaserJet printer icon that is being used.
  3. Select the Work Offline or Pause Printing option (if enabled) to remove the check.
  4. Print the document again.
Establish parallel connection
  1. Turn off the printer or remove the printer from the network.
  2. Connect the printer to the PC using a parallel cable.
  3. Power on the printer.
  4. Print the document again. NOTE: If the User Intervention Required message reappears, disable or remove any HP LaserJet software utilities loaded on the system (for example, Status Window, HP Toolbox, etc.). Prove printer functionality and troubleshoot communications; try printing again.
Uninstall and reinstall the driver After performing a cold reset on a product installed with USB, a higher DOT4_00x port is created, causing the printer to hang while printing. NOTE: This is required with products installed on a USB port only.
  1. Uninstall the USB printer driver.
  2. Remove the HP folder and AIO folder from the hard drive.
  3. Reinstall the USB printer driver.
CAUSE: This error can occur if when using a network or printing from a laptop. When the print job goes into a pending status, the printer is either in Work Offline or Pause Printing mode. Hope this helps. Please rate my response.

Printer stopped printing durring project "Assert Error b52b00b4"

ISSUE: The printer displays an assert error code. Assert error codes indicate that the printer has an internal condition that may respond to a hard reset of the printer. Beyond that, service may be required. This document applies to the following products:
  • HP Photosmart p1000/1000, p1000xi printers
  • HP Photosmart p1100, p1100xi printers
  • HP Photosmart 1115 Printer
  • HP Photosmart 1215, 1215vm, 1218, and 1218xi printers
  • HP Photosmart 1315 Printer
SOLUTION: Hard reset of the printer A hard reset of the printer may clear the error. Here is how to perform the hard reset:
  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Open the top cover of the printer and remove the print cartridges.
  3. Close the top cover of the printer.
  4. Press the power button on the printer to turn the printer off.
  5. Disconnect the communications, (USB or Parallel), cable from the back of the printer.

Can't print from my mac to my canon mp980 wireless printer


Sounds like when you added xp you inadvertently installed new print driver on server.
Try rolling back driver. But may drop xp from printing.

Best solution network printer to router bypass server. Will require hard wire from printer to router. disconnect from server may need network card for printer.

First of all we need to establish if the printer actually prints anything. Disconnect from PC and try photocopying a document. If it prints a blank page then it is most likely to be clogged print heads. Use the maintenance button to run the print head cleaning cycle, it may take 4 or 5 attempts. If still nothing then leave for about 10 hours and run another set of head cleans. If still not printing you may need to apply a head cleaning solution such as this one:

If the photocopy prints OK then the problem is more likely to be software & driver related on the PC. Make sure that the USB cable is good and check that all USB ports are showing OK in your device manager. Completely uninstall old printer drivers and try a fresh installation.

Printing quality


Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Resume light coming on but printer won't work


Normal 0 Probably has corrupt driver.
Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.

Could be a driver issue. Try reinstalling printer driver and see what happens. Also do a hard restart on printer.
