Question about Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

The recorder seems to have "locked up." Whenever the power is on, it displays a "now working" message and a progress indicator that cycles from about half finished to nearly finished, then back to half finished again. At first I thought all I'd have to do was reboot by unplugging the thing but that didn't work--even when I left it unplugged for days. It's been "working" for months now, and I need it. I DON'T need any of the songs currently stored, so if there is a way to reset to original factory settings I'm willing. Any ideas?

It's a Tascam DP-01FX Digital Portastudio. Apparently either the hardware or the software is version 1.01 0029. (That's what it says below the "now working" message on the display.) I've already tried pushing every combination of buttons I can think of, in addition to shutting down the power both with and without unplugging it. (The "shutdown" button doesn't work, but the physical power switch on the back does turn off the power.) I've tried shutting that off, waiting a day, and turning it back on. I've tried shutting that off, unplugging the thing, waiting a day, and turning it back on. I've tried leaving the power switch on and unplugging it. So far, nothing. I'm wondering if there's a battery somewhere inside that I could disconnect that would make it "forget" that it thinks it's "working" on something, but i'm reluctant to take it apart without an expert opinion. (I'm not really worried about invalidating the warranty--I suspect I forgot to send in the card anyway.) I'm usually pretty good at taking things apart and putting them back together correctly.

    Thanks

Okay, to reiterate, I'm dealing with a Tascam DP-01FX Digital Portastudio. It is a multi-track digital audio recorder. It seems to be permanently "stuck" in working mode. The display reads "now working" all the time, and as a result, none of the buttons or controls will work. (That part is normal--when the unit is working properly you can't interrupt it while it's "working"--but it's been "working" for months.) I've tried all the obvious things. I've tried shutting it down for extended periods (the "shutdown" button doesn't work, but the physical switch on the back does). I've tried unplugging it for long periods (and I've done this both when the unit was on and when it was off.) I've pressed every button and combination of buttons I could think of. I don't actually need any of the data currently stored on the hard disk, so I'm hoping there's a way to restore the original factory settings or something. I'm wondering if there's a battery inside I should disconnect and reconnect. Or a hidden reset button. The manual is no help. Ideas?

The control panel is flashing a L. What does this mean?

Hi.

The model indicated: MDB5651A does not have display and the error codes are shown like flashing lights. If that is your model and problem please just tell me what lights are flashing.

In Maytag with display instead, the L on display means that the machine is control locked. That is not an error message, but a code telling that the machine has been locked by the user (probably by mistake since you are the user).

I quote from Maytag technical documentation:

? If a cycle or option pad is pressed after the controls have been locked, the indicator light next to lock graphic will flash five times. On selected models with a countdown display, the display will flash the symbol "L" simultaneously with lock indicator.

? This option does not lock the door, only the dishwasher controls.

To set :
1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
2. An indicator light next to the lock graphic will illuminate when the controls are locked.

To Cancel Control Lock:
1. Press the Heated Dry pad for three seconds.
2. The indicator light will go off as instructed.

Try pressing the the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. If that doesn't work disconnect power. Connect back and try again unlock (power off does not remove the lock). If that still does not work there may be a faulty part. In that case turn appliance off and give me the full model number.

Start holding down the Heated Dry pad for three seconds. In normal conditions that is enough to get rid of the L and of control lock.

If you need parts or schematics see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Motorola Dual Tuner PVR - DCT 6412-III --- HELP

I was just reading another blog on this problem and it seems you must clear any recording setup you have for the program the go to the settings and in the history file delete all listings of it. This can take a while as you must delete them one at a time. Then you can reset the series or single recordings. Seems to work for some people. I am having the same problem and programs are disapearing one at a time. Good Luck

How do use self clean service?

CAUTION: SHOULD AN OVEN FIRE OCCUR,
CLOSE THE OVEN DOOR AND TURN OFF THE
OVEN. IF THE FIRE CONTINUES, USE A FIRE
EXTINGUISHER. DO NOT PUT WATER OR FLOUR
ON THE FIRE. FLOUR MAY BE EXPLOSIVE.
To set the controls for a self-clean cycle:
For satisfactory results use a 2 hour self-clean cycle for
light soils and a 3 hour cycle for average to heavy
soils.
1. Be sure the clock shows the correct time of day.
2. Press Clean. "— — —" appears in the display.
3. Press the Up Arrow until "3:00" appears in the
display for a 3 hour cycle, or press the Down Arrow
until "2:00" appears in the display for a 2 hour cycle.
4. As soon as the Up Arrow or Down Arrow is
released, "CLN" appears in the display.
5. As soon as the controls are set, the motor driven
lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK"
indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the door while
the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the
oven door to lock).
6. The "LOCK" light will glow until the cleaning cycle is
completed or cancelled, and the oven
temperature has cooled.
When the self-clean cycle is completed:
1. The time of day or “END” will appear in the display
window and the “Clean” and "LOCK" light will continue
to glow.
2. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR
and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can
be opened.
3. If “END” is in the display and the “Clean” indicator
remains on, press Clear/Off. The time of day will
appear in the display.
NOTE: When the oven is cool, wipe away any residue
or powdered ash with a damp cloth or paper towel.
Stopping or interrupting a self-cleaning cycle:
If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a selfcleaning
cycle.
1. Press Clear/Off.
2. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR
and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can
be opened.
3. Restart the self-clean cycle once all conditions have
been corrected.
How the ES 200 operates:
CAUTION: NEVER ATTEMPT TO REMOVE EITHER
THE BAKE OR BROIL ELEMENT WITHOUT DISCONNECTING
ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE
RANGE. ELECTRICAL POWER IS CONNECTED
TO THE ELEMENTS WHENEVER ELECTRICAL
POWER IS CONNECTED TO THE RANGE.
The ES 200 electronic oven control system is made up
of three parts that control the bake and broil elements,
and the locking of the door in the self-clean cycle.
1. Electronic oven control.
2. Oven temperature sensor.
3. Oven door lock mechanism.

DVD Tray will not open

I purchased this unit back in Mid November to make DVD's of my kids old VHS tapes. To date I have probably have made 400 DVD's. Sunday we came home from being gone all day and the unit was locked up. I tried the reset button, unplugged the unit etc to no avail. I unplugged the unit all Sunday night and looked at it again on Monday morning. I was ready to take the unit back to Best Buy and the unit ejected the DVD and has worked for 2 days (Recorded another dozen DVD's). Tonight while reading the paper a message came on my monitor that there was a problem with the disk and instructed me to push the "enter" button which shut the unit off and was suppose to recover the disc. The recorder is now locked up again. A number of 000000's flashes accross the display and the unit constantly cycles off/on. So it is trying to recover but is obviously not being successful. I am going to try the same thing tonight. I am not sure if I have a bad set of blank DVD's. They are Sony -DVD R, same ones I have been using all along. I do remember having this "Error" message when I first started this project and I had to unplug the unit to resolve but it didn't lock up and I haven't had any issues until Sunday. Seems like something in the software is screwed up. It is frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a manual way to eject the disk??!!
