Question about LG BD390 Blu-Ray Player

1 Answer

My LG BD390 Blu Ray player just stop reading all kind of movies BD and DVD, I did already all kind of update but nothing at all, regular DVD no even ready says no disc and BD takes a long time, make a very strange noise and says check the disk. Sometimes when you try more than 10 times a BD you can get the BD being played but most of time you dont ... what should I do, I was thinking to buy the Memorex CD/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner would you think that could help ? but in my opinion the problem is something else. I was also wondering if has any way that we can reset the Blu ray and star updating the software again ... in case something got massed up .... please help !!!

I downloaded an update (BD.808.544.B) on Sunday, 2/20/11 and since then I cannot stream movies on netflix. The message on each attempt is "Sorry, this title cannot be watched instantly at this time....

I had a similar problem. Mine would take about 30 seconds just to detect the connection speed, then would take about 3 minutes to buffer the movie. After about 3 minutes of playing, it would stop and buffer about 3 more minutes of the movie, play for 3 minutes, then stop and buffer about 3 more minutes, etc.
I noticed on another thread that people were disabling BD-Live to resolve other issues, so I tried that and it seems to have solved my problem. You might want to give it a try. Under Setup -> Network -> BD-LIVE connection - set it to Prohibited and give it a try.
I guess you only need BD-Live enabled if you have BluRay discs and want to access the online extras.

It will only play Blu-ray DVD's????

Blu-ray players can play both BD and DVD disks, the region of disks must match the ones that the player accepts.

I have the LG BD390. I have had this blue ray for sometime and never had a problem with playing blue ray movies. I just bought the new Iron Man II blue ray movie. The movie stops playing at the same...

I had the exact same problem with my BD390 and another LG home theater system, both with the current firmware updates. I noticed others have posted this issue on various sites as well. I called LG and the guy I spoke with seems to have been coached pretty well on the scenes where this problem is occuring since he could sight the exact scenes that were giving me the problem. He claimed the blu ray probably isn't exactly 1080i or 1080p and that the player is probably having problems processing the resolution so I should lower it to 720p. This didn't fix the problem and didn't help explain why my blu ray player which plays plenty of other high resolution movies only has a problem with this movie. I think a firmware update is needed to fix the issue but I'm not holding my breath that LG will be proactive in getting that out soon.

Will not play green zone blu ray movie just keeps looping on the menu screen but will not give me any options

I had this same problem with my LG BD390 player. I discovered (through an internet search) that the problem is caused by some kind of BD-Live feature during menu-loading. By switching off the BD-Live function of the Blu-ray player (temporarily) the disc will play normally. At least with my player it did.

Hi there , I am trying to watch Planet Earth blue ray disc on lg bd 390 and for some reason any of the discs does not load (there is 6 of them).i thought it was a bad product and I asked for an exchange...

Try disabling BD-Live.
On the LG BD390 go to the Home screen then select the following:
Settings-->Network-->BD-Live Connection
You have three options: Permitted, Partially Permitted (default), and Prohibited.
Change the setting to Prohibited.
Now reload the disk and try again.
If that doesn't work try clearing the BD Storage (memory about the disks you play).
Again from the Home screen:
Settings-->Others-->BD Storage Clear
I think changing the BD-Live setting will stop the problem you're experiencing. If that works, you could also try changing the setting to Permitted.
I am experiencing issues with some of the very latest Blu-Ray disks, such as Avatar and Date Night. I don't have enough experience to be sure yet, but so far the evidence points to a new setting or standard in the disk industry that does not play well with the Partially Permitted default setting on the LG BD390 and a few other Blu-Ray players.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Connecting Linksys router with BD390 blueray player

I had a similiar problem with my BD390...Saw the SSID but not able to log on. I ended up performing a downgrade of firmware from LG's support page and corrected it. Afterwards upgraded firmware to current levels and works still ok.
