Did you try a powercycle already? i mean did you turn off and on the modem and router. usually that fixes it.when youplug-in the devices the modem should go first then when it is stable plugin the router.

if internet is still not working you may have to reset the router by pressing the reset button on the back for 30sec. powercycle again then check internet.

if the internet is still not working access the configuration page by using your Internet explorer. type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar.

If your router is version 3 or 4 with the latest firmware look for MAC ADDRESS CLONE tab under SETUP menu. set it to ENABLE then click on CLONE. Save the settings then do another powercycle. Please note that you have to do this using the computer that can get online directly to the modem.

You try this.
On your computer that is connected to the router,
open your browser and type http://192.168.1.1 and type admin for password, leave the username blank.
In the setup page make sure that the Internet connection type is set to Obtain an IP Automatically DHCP, the click save setting/apply at the bottom.
Then go to the status tab, check the Internet IP if its 0.0.0.0 click renew or dhcp renew at the bottom of the page.
If its still not working turn off the router and the modem for 1min.
Then power on the modem first, wait for the lights to go green and then the router. Check if you can get the IP address under status. If you will have one you should be able to get online.

if you still have a problem just reply to this post so we could give you more options.

its possible that the device is outside the warranty that is why they are charging you $ 39.00 . temporarily disconnect the router from the modem. Check the lights, make sure that the power light is solid. and if you have a firewall on your make sure that they are all disabled.

then try this to test the connection to the router.

make sure that the router is disconnected from the modem .

must have a computer connected to the router.

and the lights that you should have are power (solid green) and one of the ethernet lights where you are currently plugged in. (the light will occasionally flash).

then go to your command propmt (click start,go to run and type

cmd, and click ok. This is for winxp)

now on the black window that will pop up type this command ping 192.168.1.1 then hit enter. then on the info that it will show you look for the ping statistics and look for the packet sent and received. make sure that you have 4 packets received. if you do, try to log back in to the router.

Let us know what will happen.

How do I set up an old linksus to my modem and PC to estaablish a network for my laptop?

If u r you are connected to your desktop then type "192.168.1.1 or 196.168.2.1" to any browser's address bar on your desktop and after doing that, type in fill the required contents. After you enter the modem you can easily set up the internet connection either wired or wireless.

Cannot connect to Internet via router. works OK when direct connected to DSL modem. Powering off router does not help. port lights flashing very fast on router.

To be able to browse using wifi, the internet (dsl) cable should be at the number 1 port of your router and the other end should be at the modem. No other wires should be connected on the router.

Will not read internet connection

Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Can not get on line

1. Make sure the ethernet cable going from the modem is going into the port on the router labeled "internet." Next, make sure the ethernet cable that is plugged into your desktop is going into the port labeled either 1,2,3,or4.
2. If it is in port 1, or any other port, make sure you try all of the number ports.(1,2,3,4)

Msi rg54g3 wireless router

Cable modem or DSL? If cable modem without phone service, modem power has to be unplugged 2 minutes before the router is connected in order to release the mac address from memory. If cable modem with phone service, same thing applies, but battery backup must also be disconnected.
DSL modem may require PPPoE setup into router.
