Question about Carrier Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

Recently had a totaltouch (touch screen) thermostat by Carrier(model P289-1300) installed. I programmed the four time zones with auto air and set it to, "run program." However, when the thermostat enters the time/temp zone selected (say, time zone 1 @ 2:00AM/72degrees), the heat does not come on automatically. help

let me start over. first, we are already in the heater mode---cooling is not the issue. Next, the room is currently 68 degrees. After 2:00AM the heater is set to go on if the temp is below 72. below 72 degrees; but, it does not go on to bring heat to the house to reach the 72 degree mark set on the themostat.

Even though you have programmed the thermostat with the desired events, what you need to check is whether the thermostat has been set to operate in the correct mode.

If it is in simple mode then it will not recognise the programmes.

Refer 2nd last page in the attached manual (may not be exactly the same as your model) to set in the program mode.

Also you need to check the AUTO key is showing the correct state. See page titled HOME PAGE for details.

HOpe this helps. Please rate the solution if you find it useful. Otherwise post a comment so that I can help you further.

Gary,
All machines work on the premise that if the ac is cut down, the temperature will rise automatically by means of body heat and atmosphere. The heat will come on only when you are using heater. In that case the cooling will be done by atmospheric means. So, I feel that it is natural that the heater will not get activated to bring the temp up to the desired level when you are cooling the room. It will be the atmosphere that will raise the temp.

I'm setting up a new 42KE5300 and when I turn it on it goes to an LG logo with time input field. I can't enter the time and I can't get past this screen!? The screen flashes and the logo turns upside down...

LG has a general manual that is supposed to cover most of their recent European region models. On page 170, it says if you are receiving a digital TV signal while in AUTO mode, the time is set to GMT plus a time zone/country offset that you can program in manually.

Have you verified that your remote control is working? If you can't turn the set on or off with the remote control, it may have a dead or improperly installed battery (I know it's "new" but I have seen dead batteries in new devices before).

According to the manual (page 76), you should be able to bring up the primary menu by pressing the Menu button, then you can press one of the four-way navigation buttons to step to a sub-menu. Next, you press OK to select the sub-menu. Use the up and down buttons to select the menu sub-items (these are not the up and down buttons on the four-way selector). If none of this works, and you have a known good battery in the remote control, then you probably have a defective product or it is locked into some sort of store demo mode.

Our Carrier Comfort Zone II thermostat, which has 2 zone readouts, currently shows a temperature of 00, as in zero zero, on one zone. That is the main zone for our home. Zone 2, for spare bedrooms, etc....

This .pdf file may be of help to you:

Perhaps you could get some help from Carrier Support here:
http://www.residential.carrier.com/support/index.shtml
I noticed they have an option of talking to an engineer, and perhaps they could explain how to reset or set the unit.
Hope this helps.

The stat that works is called the main and the other two are called slave stats. The stats must be set to heat or cool the same as the main. If you want one room to cool and one to heat , sorry. Need to upgrade to auto changeover. Is this AC actally a Heat pump?

It sounds like the thermostat is not functioning correctly. Has it been changed recently? I think the green wire is connected directly with red somewhere, maybe touching within the wiring in the wall. Also make sure the thermostat is set to auto not on. Sorry if you knew that but you would be surprised how many people don't.
