DCR TRV310 fire wire driver

I can't get my computer Windows XP to recognize my camcorder. I have been looking for a driver to facilitate this and can't find it. Can you help?

Sorry, I can't open the thread. So responding here.

As a result of your response, I plugged the firewire cable into my lap top and it didn't recognize the camcorder either. So it doesn't seem to be a computer problem.

Since this cable worked the last time I downloaded video, and it hasn't been stressed, I am wondering if there might be some settings on the camcorder that might have been changed. Gary

I have the exact problem but I am using the original cable. I have a SIIG firewire card and the PC recognizes that. However when I plug in the wire and turn on the camera, the PC device manager runs for 5-10 minutes then displays Sony DV Camer in the Imaging Devices. When I try to capture the video through Windows Movie Maker, the screen steps take 2-3 minutes each and when I click begin it displays 'No Tape in Camera', I called Sony and they advised me to uninstall Service Pack 3 which I did with the same results. I installed the card on another desktop and the results were the same. Other than getting a new wire from Sony, I am about to get a new card. any suggestions?

Sorry, but I can't get the link open to get back to the thread.

As a result of your comments, I attached the fire wire cable from the camcorder to my lap top, and it doesn't recognize the camcorder either.

The cable worked the last time I downloaded and it has not been stressed. So I doubt it is the problem. Could it be that I don't have the right settings on the camcorder?

Camcorder not being recognized by my computer

I assume that you are running Windows XP in your PC and have Sony DCR-TRV19 camcorder.
Please go to camera Menu and enable USB stream option. Computer will recognize camcorder.
If any thing is different, let me know to help you out.

Hook up camera let windows say find new hardware. FOllow the prompts. Acording to Sony Xp has the driver already unless it is a 64 bit. See Below:
  • The drivers needed to connect most Sony® cameras and camcorders to a computer are already included in the Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems. With these drivers, you should be able to connect and transfer files to a computer.
Note: If the your camera or camcorder is not recognized by the computer when connected, you may need an updated driver.

Sony DCR TRV310

Spent and afternoon online with the tech....the best they could come up with was that I wasn't using an authentic Sony iLink cable. $40 later it still didn't work. (BTW it was previously working on standard firewire cables just fine) We tried it on different computers, different cables, etc.
I strongly suspect that the firmware has changed in the camera. No one seems to know of a way to reset or re-flash it. Looks like I'll have to replace or repair it.

I hope your luck is better.

DCR TRV310 fire wire driver

FOR USB:
Download Driver
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-matrix.pl?upd_id=1452

Install then download and install a video program like movavi videosuite or ulead videostudio (i personally recommend movavi).

Plug in the camcorder and switch it on, put it on play/edit and play the video, press record or capture in the software and let it record!

once the video scene in the camera is done, stop the recording and do what you wish!

GOOD LUCK!
