There is a clicking sound like something is trying to turn on, the freezer has quit cooling and now the frig is begining to shut down what can it be?

Hey i have a kenmore mod#59675232402ser#12703232LJ Its not freezing nor is the refrigerator is getting could the fan is still running.how can we repair this please help all food is defrosting.

Less than 2 years old; fan still runs, but no water being removed. Pan is totally dry. Ideas? Anything I can fix on my own?

Change the start relay.

Beneath the terminal cover is found the compressor relay , overload protector and the electrical terminals of the compressor motor. Remove the compressor relay by pulling it straight off from the compressor.
Pull the wire off of the side terminal of the relay. It is connected with a slip on connector. Firmly pull the connector, do not pull on the wire. You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers.
Inspect the connector for corrosion. If it is corroded it should be cleaned or replaced.
Reattach the wire to the new compressor relay and press the relay back onto the compressor terminals. Replace the terminal cover box and plug in the refrigerator.

Our FRT18G4AWE top freezer, bottom fridge. Compressor isnt kicking on, freezer is freezing but fridge is luke warm. can here compressor hum very faintly, if you get next to it. Is compressor done or what?

Freezer has quit working and now refrigerator not cooling like it should.


If you hear the start relay clicking after the compressor tries to start then you know that there is power to the compressor.
This tells you it is ether a bad start relay or a bad compressor.
At this point I use a meter to see if the compressor is shorted to ground.
If the compressor is not shorted then replace the start relay and give it a try.
You should hear the compressor start right away with a new start relay if that was the problem.
If the compressor is shorted to ground you will need to have the compressor replaced.
Given the history on whirlpool refrigerators in the 5 year old age range It may be good chance that a new start relay will fix your refrigerator.
If the start relay is bad you will hear it try to start the compressor and then click off.
If the relay is bad you will hear the clicking sound seconds after plugging it in and then again every minute or two as it keeps trying to start the compressor.
