If your dryer is STILL heating, but your clothes still won't dry, you may want to check the dryer interior cabinet and/or the entire run of the exhaust ducting from where it exits your dryer to the point where it leaves your home to ensure you have no kinks, clogs, or excessive bends. The following link explains many of the common problems that can cause poor drying efficiency and longer dry times:

Before assuming you have a problem with the appliance, check your installation to ensure you are providing the dryer with proper exhaust and air flow. This is the NUMBER ONE cause of poor drying efficiency. A dryer in a clogged state, or having improper air flow, will not dry efficiently and will cause the heating circuits to OVERHEAT. Eventually, this can lead to component failures and is the source of many fire hazards.
If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

I am having the same problem. However, we live in military housing. When we moved in the dryer was already like this. I\'ve called and had there repair guys come out to fix it four times now. They keep saying it\'s a kink in the exhaust duct. Four times and that is always there answer. We don\'t move the dryer. The clothes get hot but they won\'t dry. Now I am worried about a fire hazard like you said. I\'ve been on here doing my own research so I can call them again with a little more info about what might actually be wrong. I don\'t want to have to do there job for them but this problem isn\'t getting fixed.

Too long to dry

When you say too long I assume the dryer does heat simple trick disconnect exhaust tube from dryer at bottom run a cycle room will get hot if dryer drys correctly then you have a restriction in the exhaust, dryer has to be able to breath just like a muffler on a car a restriction will cause the heat circuit of the dryer to cycle on/off on the hi limit instead of the cycling thermistor which will give you a long dry time hope this helps

Dryer control doesn't move on less dry more dry setting and will not shut off when clothes are dry.

If clothes are hot then try dryer on timed dry. If timer does not move then timer is most likely bad . Replace. If timer moves on timed dry it is not getting hot enough to click the cycling thermostat.(If clothes are overly hot above 160 then the cycling therm. is stuck Replace.

My dryer runs and gets hot but cloths don't dry.

Your problem may be attributed to a clogged exhaust system (e.g.: clogged inside the dryer's vent, flexible vent behind dryer clogged and/or clogged inside wall, etc.).

My dryer dosen't dry my clothes

Check the exhaust tube for obstructions. If this is a gas dryer it needs airflow coming and going through that tube. This is always the cheapest, easiest first step.

Roper electric dryer. Clothes not drying. Temp ok/timer not?

I would supect a faulty high limit thermostat. This small round device is mounted to a metal plate and attached to the internal ductwork. It can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Test for continuity. It should have none. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Dryer takes a long time to dry.

This sounds like the vent is plugged up. The dryer gets rid of moisture through the dryer vent and hose. When this gets plugged up it will take a long time to dry or the hi limit will shut it off. When the dryer vent or hose is partialy blocked it will take vary tong times to dry the clothes and will eventualy cause the dryer to stop drying all together.
