Question about Washing Machines

2 Answers

I just bought a Crosley washer Model cw9500w on craigslist. I ran 2 loads of clothes through it just fine didn't notice anything wrong but when i went to do a third load it filled the tub and then quite. It wasn't making any noise at all but when i unplugged it and plugged it back in it made the clicking noise when i pushed in the dial and when i pulled it out it made a humming noise along with a noise like the timer in the scatagories game but wont do anything else.

I bought a timer thinking i couldn't think of anything else. Now I installed it and same problem. However, I started messing with the knobs in frustration and this washer has a couple dots above large on selecting load size. I bumped it all the way up and turned the knob and it added more water. Is it my switch that is bad and if so how hard is it to take apart a washer to get to the switch?

I have now replaced the timer and the lid switch and it still isn't working.

I can spin the tub but it does turn hard. If it is the bearings, how hard would it be for me to fix?

First thing would be to check the belt. It is very possible tat the belt may be broken. Try and spin the tub manually to see if it spins easily. It should spin just fine unless the turb bearings are seized up.

Now try to remove the belt and spin the tub. See if it is just as hard. If so, you may be looking at replacing the tub bearings which ins't the easiest task. You will need a remove the agitator, remove the tub, tub bearings, belt, dogs, mounting bracket, ect.

There are videos on howstuffworks and other sites that show how it is done which will help you along the way.

Hi. Most likely the timer is bad and will need to be replaced. You can probably get the part at your local appliance store. J.

After googling I determined that the water inlet valve on my crosley bycw4271 top load heavy duty washer was needing replacement and bought the part. I could probably install it except I can't figure out...

on the control panel there is 2 screws to take the panel off either in the rear or front along the bottom then flip that back and there will be 2 metal clips 1 on each side take flat head screw driver and pry towards the back. unplug lid switch and whole cabinet will tilt towards you for removal and you will be able to access the water valve and more if needed.

Crosley heavy duty washer model cw9500w how do you get the drum off

Hi pucke4488 - Typically this (not a do it yourself job) is something that you want a certified professional to install for you due to safety and liability reasons. They also usually warranty their labor just in case something else may turn out to be the root cause of your initial problem. Consider contacting your manufacturer for more details on who in your area can properly install this part.

Water not filling on washer

the inlet filter is probably clogged restricted and/or inhibited flow of water into your machine.
These things happen, and cleaning out the filter is a good first step to finding the problem.

Crosley CAWC529JQ1 top load washer LEAVES LINT ON CLOTHING

try washing on a shorter time as this washer may have too good of wash action and the lint is fabric coming off your clothing
add more soap powder and do not buy the cheapest soap as the soap is important in the washing cycle of your machine
towels that are not too soiled brobably need 6 minutes at most on wash
if this machine has a delicate wash cycle use that for tee shirts etc
water pressure is important in rinse cycles
do you have high pressure and water only trickles in check water inlets on back of machine where the hoses screw on
good luck

My maytag washer has a burning smell.

What model do you have.?It doesn't sound like it was spinning.A frozen pump would make the belt burn and it would leave some water in the tub .
