The error
L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are two possibilities
they are :
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

Our copier is an AR-208D & it has a error code of H4-00 displayed. Can we fix it?

In most cases the flashing H4 or H then 4 code on these machines is caused by voltage fluctuations or surges. Normally there is nothing wrong with the machine and the code is easily reset. Here is the procedure:
Press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "#" then the " * " (star) key then the "Clear" key then the " * " key again.
So in other words #, star, C, Star
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Then key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the "print" button
The machine should automatically shut down and restart with the H4 code being gone.
If the H4 code comes back after reset then in this case you have a fusing unit problem and will need to have the unit serviced.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

H 4 code flashing

The H4 code indicates the fuser may have blown the thermistor. It also could be a false error code. Try this series to clear the error and if it returns, then you'll know for sure the fuser is the culprit. To reset press the following buttons:
  1. Press this sequence: CLR-Exposure-CLR-Exposure
  2. The display will go blank
  3. enter "14", press "PRNT"
  4. Press "CLR" several times to exit.
Give that a try and good luck.

Showing h4

If your machine is AR-5316,
The problem is in the fusing unit try these steps:

STEP1: Press continuously CLEAR then INTERRUPT then ZERO then INTERRUPT

STEP2: The panel display will turn off it means that you are inside the simulation if not repeat again step1.

STEP3.Then type 14 then press the print button

If these steps doesn't work you must call an authorized serviceman to check your machine, maybe something is busted on the fusing unit like thermostat or fusing lamp.

L1 SHOWING ON SHARP COPYER SF756

An L1 generally means the lamp carage is not moving. Remove the glass and see if that lamp assembly moves back and forth freely or if it is hitting something in it's path.

H4 Problem

Hi there, if you want to clear this code its very simple, do the following: -on your control panel locate the clear and auto exposure buttons, next -hit in the following sequence clear, auto, clear, auto without holding them down, after that all your panel lights should go out. If they do not you have to keep trying...They will go out. -Next program the machine as if your going to make 14 copies -Once 14 is displayed, hit the green start button and your copier should be working again. Cheers! :)
