The beeps you hear are BIOS Beep Code beeps. The computer's way of telling you something is wrong, and an area to look into for the problem. The BIOS Beep Code is just that. A code. For example: One Long beep, two Short beeps, then a pause, (Period of silence), then the beep code starts all over. What series of beeps do you hear? One thing you might do is to clean the contact pins on the bottom of your Ram Memory module/s. (Stick) The gold plated contact pins can develop corrosion after time. Computer unplugged from power, observe Anti-Static Precautions. Remove the Ram Memory module/s, and use a pencil eraser to clean the contact pins. Use air from a can of compressed air for computers, or from your mouth, and remove the eraser dust. Reinstall the Ram Memory module/s. (Monitor is in Power Saver Mode, because there is No Video Signal coming from the computer. No Signal. This is because the computer isn't working)

System Beep Codes The Inspiron™ 531 / 531s system can emit a series of beeps during start-up if the display cannot show errors or problems. These series of beeps, called beep codes, identify various problems. One possible beep code consists of repetitive three short beeps. This beep code indicates the computer encountered a possible system board failure.
The series of beeps has a 3-second delay before it repeats. The series and delays continually loop until you press the power button.
Code Description Suggested Remedy 1 BIOS ROM checksum in progress or failure System board failure; covers BIOS corruption or ROM error 2 No memory modules detected

  1. If you have two or more memory modules installed, remove the modules, reinstall one module, and then restart the computer. If the computer starts normally, reinstall an additional module. Continue until you have identified a faulty module or reinstalled all modules without error.
  2. If available, install a good memory module of the same type into the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
3 Chipset error (North and Southbridge chipset, DMA/IMR/Timer Error for Intel® platform); chipset error System board failure. Power LED is blinking amber. Time-Of-Day Clock test failure Gate A20 failure Super I/O chip failure Keyboard controller test failure 4 RAM read/write failure
  1. Ensure no special memory module/memory connector placement requirements exist.
  2. Verify the memory modules you are installing are compatible with the computer.
  3. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
5 Real time clock failure. Possible battery failure or system board failure.
  1. Replace the battery.
  2. If the problem persists, contact Dell.
6 Video BIOS test failure Video card failure 7 CPU cache test failure Processor failure

Dell inspiron 5315 when trying to boot up it say power save how to fix

Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
if this fails to fix the problem

During the boot process tap the f8 button three times this will boot into safe mode where the only things working will be your mouse and keyboard enabling you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell what file has been corrupted or missing you might be able to work your way through problem if you are unable to find a solution

restart back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time
click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option

hope this helps

I have vista on my dell inspiron 531s. Once it goes into hibernation, it won't come out of it when I move the mouse. I have to turn it off without powering down correctly. How do I fix this?

If it didn't used to be a problem, but now is, and you've added some program recently, try removing that program. Other than that, the solution is probably too difficult to track down, so open the power settings in your control panel and set the power savings mode to never, never, never to keep it from hibernating.
