Hi! is there another similar socket near to the mic one? maybe coloured green. Mic is short for microphone so is not the correct one to plug your speakers into. Usually there are 3 sockets in a row and the speaker one is furthest from the mic one. Regards, Nicam

Music is playing - everything is turned on - fixit says there is no problem - sound card is active - speakers worked yesterday - now nothing, no sound is coming out of speakers

you might have hit by accident a windows mute key or a mute on your speakers themselves or maybe the wire that plugs into your speakers or computer got disconnected accidentaly.

try going in your Control Panel and check what u have in the Sound tab, it might give you some clues if the problem is inside the box.

you can also go into Control panel and Device manager and see also the sound Tab in there see if also your card shows up there...

if u have also an onboard sound card and also a pci sound card those can get into conflict if both are active at the same time.

good luck!

Not recognizing the speakers.

Operating systems don't auto detect speakers. You have to go into the sound setup in Control Panel and you can tell the computer if you have headphones, surround sound, 2 speaker, 4 speaker setup or whatever. If your sound just isn't working then you need to go into or sound card setup and probably tell it what you have plugged into each jack or let it auto detect your speakers.

I have a HP computer and I Installed a set of Multi Media speakers and only get sound from the left speaker the one withoou the controls , can you help?

First thing make sure the wire is plugged all the way in on the computer. And if that doesn't work make sure the balance control on the speakers is centered. If that doesn't fix it, it could be the wire connecting it to the comp., or the right channel is blown in the right speaker itself. I hope this helps.

The sound on my speakers sounds distant, almost like an echo.

Do you have a sound card? If so are you plugged into the green plug on the sound card and not the green plug on the intregrated board on the computer. Have you updated the driver lately? If not you can try that. Open your control panel and go to sound and audio devices, go to speaker setting advanced and select the speaker combination you have to assure that is correct. You can also see your video card here if you have one. Now this is on XP format. There are other setting you can view and change there also.

Lost sound

fist of all check any extrnal speakers with your pc or
1. Check all your connections and make sure you have them in the correct places and connected completely.

2. Check your sound settings on your computer. Go to Start, Control Panel, Sound and Audio Devices and see if it is turned up or if it is muted.

3. With the above it will be able to tell you if the driver is missing. If so go to the HP website and get the Audio Drivers for your computer. Install thoses and restart your PC and go through steps 1,2 again if there is no sound. Now if that fails you may have bad speakers.

My hp speakers wont work

Sample testing is usually a firmware built into the monitor amplifier ie the monitor is testing itself. you problem possibly lies with the computer sound system. Tell me more about this. Is it an 'On-board' sound card or separate PCI card. You can determine this by looking at the back of the computer- if all the connectors - sound- PS2 and USB are in the same panel - then it is an on-board system. If the sound is separate in one of the card position then it is a PCI card. The possibility is the sound system needs setting up- check your computer paperwork/manual and utilities disk for Audio drivers. Come back with some answers
