Geo prizm radio 1993. All of a sudden radio won't go on at all. switch seems a little loose but no clock time showing power either. Says it shares a fuse with cig lighter and that works. Help!

seems so. the cig answers are wrong. its ACC fuse runs radio on PRIZM.93
we dont even know what radio is there.
on old cars most have had the radio replace 3 times.
stock (not likely this old ,no?) cassettes?????
then CD added
then CD/DVD/MP3 added
then media center the does everything even runs
MP3(etc) on a USB stick (best of best forever)
see? or ipod, port. etc.etc... even SAT radios.

that is the point here, we cant SEE< we are blind
why ask the blind for help.?
zero photos posted. as are 99.9% on this forum.
and fails mostly just for that one fact here.

why not just buy a better radio head end.?
and the adaptor kit that allows you to just
plug it in and not mangle all those stock wires.
the kit is sold in all autostores in the USA
for like $15 bucks. dirt cheap.
then install the new head end.
this is what all folks do.
or get it done by those that do...

My radio stopped working after a power surge tripped the breaker for the outlet it was plugged into.

I have had several different makes of clock radios and all said that it was battery back up for power failure
none worked and all settings had to be redone
power surges do not trip breakers as they are in effect a fuse to prevent damage to the wiring in a dead short situation or when a unit fails
even surge protectors will still pass power after a surge but will no longer protect against another surge

Team sports america scoreboard clock has no display after a brief power outage

Their is a 3.7v button battery inside,it will cause the display to fail when it is dead,it was discharged after your power went out.Replace the battery and it will work again,I have done this.

I have a Philips clock radio. Will the radio come on during a power outage with a battery?

Friend,

I agree that there is a battery in the device. But, it is only to maintain the time during power outage. It is just a button cell good enough to run the clock internally. It does not even show time, despite the clock running. And when the power restores, the time is displayed.

So, the answer to your query is NO.

Radio & clock stopped working. No fuses labeled "radio" or "clock" in under-hood block, or under- dash block

The fuse in postion 32 (15 Amp) in the box under the dash by the steering wheel also powers your cigarette lighter and radio also powers the clock. If only the clock is dead then it is not a fuse issue. This is a very common problem with the 96-05 Corolla clocks. The clocks are very prone to internal failure. Alarms will not work

Hi. Often following a power outage there is a power surge when the power is restored. If you do not have your Bose protected by plugging it into a surge protector, an internal fuse will blow to protect the rest of the radio. Once that fuse is replaced you will be back up and running. J.

On this page is the update for setting the day light saving time function on your clock/radio. You may also have to replace the internal battery in the clock/radios to keep it working up to date. The battery usually has a three year life span. This may be shorten by power outages and leaving the radios unplugged for long periods of time. I hope this information helps you with your problem.(http://www.emersonradio.com/dst.htm) Copy this web link and paste it into the address bar of the browser.
