if your having problems with the laptop charging and turning on plus the freezing that is going on then its going to be a motherboard issue cause the power connector is a part of the motherboard and the battery gets its power from the motherboard.

If your notebook is still covered under warranty then call HP and get it serviced otherwise you'll have to buy the motherboard which looks like this and this also has the part number so you can do your own shopping around as well:

Laptop Screen Freezes and turns black When Adjusted angle.

It is possible that the video cable is chafing in the point where it passes through the hinge assembly. Try reseating the video cable, if that doesn't help, the replacing the LCD cable assembly is the likely fix.

My Acer Laptop screen fades or goes out when moved

Try reseating the video cable/connector. Also connect an external monitor to the external video port, power up the monitor first then boot up the laptop. The video image should automatically divert to the monitor, if you see a normal video image then the video card is OK and the problem most likely the LCD screen.

Screen going blank and laptop freezes.

One thing that I've noticed about the Inspiron 1000, is the LCD ground is done exclusively thru the hinges. Try tightening the LCD hinge screws (Marked with a (D)) 2 on the bottom of the chassis and possibly 2 on the back. (I just tightned every screw I could find)

Once the ground connection is improved, the LCD may work better

LCD screen looks like bad TV reception

if the display returns to normal when you press the bezel at on end means there is a bad connection to the inverter behind the bezel itself or the inverter is ready to give up the ghost.
you can attempt to dismantlethe laptop and remone the lid or in some cases just unscrew the bezel and remove the plastic cover, the inverter is at the bottom of the display you can't miss it

hope this helps

TOSHIBA LAP TOP

If you move your laptop screen to were it works sometimes and doest work other, it sounds like it could have a loose connection in the ribbon cable. Most laptop lcd screens are connected to the main board through a brown looking ribbon cable. if this cable has become loosened, then yes it can be a DIY type job.

if you attempt to take the laptop apart, i sugguest you keep a record of what type screws go where.

Good luck!

Laptop freezes when it is moved and the backlight is pinkish

Although, you should have this one looked at by a qualified Laptop technician...the most likely culprits are:

1) bad harddrive or harddrive needs to be reseated
2) bad ram or needs to be reseated
3) on soem laptops there is an access panel on the back for a video card...these get loose...and some have two small wires that snap on the board...check those.
4) lastly, the cable that attaches the LCD to the motherboard. This will not be easy for the novice to find...you will have to remove the bezel and probably the keyboard...don't attempt unless you are confident.

Good luck.
