If you lost the code, this is dealer only. There is no master code. They have to change the ROM to fix it. You will have a new code with the new ROM.

The last time I checked, the cost was about $80 to $120 depending on the model.

Radio not working in my 1999 boxter what fuse should i check?

It's probably best if you just go ahead and check all of your fuses. Most radios now require two power sources.

WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE CODE FOR YOUR RADIO

Hi,

The code for your radio is usually in with the service documentation and mamufacturers will put it on a card about the size of a credit card. Sometimes the code will be handwritten into one of the owners manuals so leaf through these as well to see if it is present anywhere.

If the code is not to be found in the documentation your local dealer can provide the code from their database but there is usually a charge for doing so. Ford for example charge $30 or Mercedes $60.

If you have a Ford, Fiat or Renault you can try this site which I can recommend. They can decode these types of radios directly from their serial number along with Becker units fitted to BMW, Porsche and Mercedes by request and at a much lower cost than a dealer charges.

Not all makes or radio models can be decoded this way so decoding services are limited to certain radios.

Hope this helps. Any questions just let me know. Thanks for using FixYa.

I had the battery changed in my 1998 porsche Boxster and need a code for the radio to work - I can't find my owner's manual with the code in it.

you may be required to remove the radio from the dash in order to obtain the serial number on the radio... but maybe not...
Call the dealership and ask to speek with someone about your radio code...

To nip problems like this in the bud... there is a small device you can purchass for a few doillars that you plug into the cig. lighter socket to keep electronics like radios from having to be reset when servicing the battery... maybe chack into one of those for next time?

You need to recover the radio's serial number to decode the 4 digit radio key. The full process and decoder is available here: Porsche Boxster: Online Lost Radio Code Recovery Tool
