Question about Panasonic KX-T7130 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Can I use a KX-T7130 on a two phone line without a phone system? In other words, can I use it like a standard 2 line telephone? If so, how do I do this? It was last used on a phone system and I'm not seeing anything on the LCD display when plugged into our phone jack.

Are you a Panasonic rep or do you hope I choose Panasonic just because you like the brand?
Just curious. You've got me interested now in doing a phone system for our house. We just completed construction of our home without one, but all of the phone lines gather at a central station, so it probably wouldn't be too complex to hook one up.

Okay, thanks. I'll look into it. Can it be programmed from a Mac? And does it come with a manual that is fairly clear for setup?

No. However, you can use it on one of about 18 different Panasonic systems. Ebay is full of economy Pana's, but the first and best one you'd want is the TA-824 with Caller ID card. It runs about $200-250 and will let you add 7 other phones to the system and 3 lines.

The 824 system has some nice features, and some not so nice ones. It's programmable from a Windows XP interface and has a single port Auto Attendant (called DISA) which could let you share a fax line with regular phones.

Anyway, thanks for the testimonial and I hope you end up choosing Panasonic.

Yes :-) I am a Panasonic system dealer. The 824 itself does some things well, and some poorly. The good part of the system is you can hang system and cordless phones on its extensions, use central office or premise based answering systems, have a doorphone (optional hardware) and restrict dialing times and locations plus monitor all calls made. You also get paging to all system phones, or an intercom to any connected phone. 824's program from a USB port or from a sysem phone connected to port 1.

The bad things in residential is that it's cumbersome to have more than two people on the line at the same time (even two requires some setup) and, luckily you solved the most significant problem, it requires a seperate cable for each extension. The expansion card i
s usually more expensive than the main box because, we end up with surplus cabinets.

Anyway, it's something to look into. Let me know if you need some assistance.

No Mac. It comes with a set of manual files and it can be programmed from a display phone.
Here's a link to the manuals Check out the 200,300 and 400 files.

The KX-T7735 is a proprietary digital phone that only works when connected to a Panasonic telephone system through a 4 wire line cord. It does not need an ac power connection to operate, it gets its power through the line cord when connected to a Panasonic phone system. This phone will not work if connected directly to an outside line.

I need to turn of fwd/dnd

Take the handset off the hook, then press the FWD/DND button followed by 0 (zero). When you hear the tone, hang the handset back up. This will work with the PT (Panasonic Proprietary telephone) system. (Alternatively, pick up the handset, press 7 (seven) 1 (one) 0 (zero) 0 (zero) and hang up after the tone. This works for PT and SLT phones (single line telephone))

The same sequence works to cancel call forwarding (except for follow me forwarding). In the Follow me mode, pick up the handset, press FWD/DND or 7 1 0 followed by 8 and the extension number. Then hang up after hearing the tone.

I hope this helps.

Don't laugh. Push the button and read the display. It will either unset DND or CF :-).

The 7100 command is part of the sequence to cancel those features on most phone systems and 790 or 79# will reset the extension. Of course it may be different if you have a TDA or TAW box (*7100) or a KX-T xxx10 system.

Depending on your system, you can switch the phone to program, press the CO button and dial 1 105 store. If it's a Feature button, jsut dial the extension (105) and store. IIRC the "2" is assumed on a feature button.
