The lights are on but nobodies home
can you get the bios to post
(hold down del, or f2 or f12 it varies, while the "splash screen" (probably a graphic of the manufactures name) is on the screen (right after u power on) if you can get the bios open check to see if the hard disk is being recognized by the system. In any case if you can get the bios up your motherboard is lower on my list of suspects.
(Just to be safe you have checked any methods that the display may have been turned off, right)
(in case you haven't check the f-row keys it is not uncommon that one of these combined with the fn (or function key) switches the display)
sometimes there is a esoteric fix for your model (just in case it is a MB issue, such as holding down f10 when u power on or preheating the system {laugh it up its the only way I can get my hp tx1000 to start} hope this helps

Acer aspire 5515(laptop) screen is black turns on screen stayscompletly black...no acer logo nothing just a black screen. power button comes up green u can hear the fan and harddrive start up

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

I HAVE A ACER ASPIRE 5100 & WHEN I TURN IT ON THE SCREEN IS BLACK & WONT DO ANYTHING. THEN ABOUT ONCE EVERY SO OFTEN IT DOES BOOT UP BUT TELLS ME THAT I HAVE TO REINSTALL WINDOWS & WHEN I GOT...

You might have a bad AC adapter, bad Battery or bad motherboard.
1.) AC Adapter about $60
2.) Battery around $100.00
3.) Motherboard around ?

I would start with adapter first. If you see that you have to go to Number 2 or 3. You might to just get a whole Laptop, if this one is not still under warrenty.

My acer aspire one 150 is not starting up

Hi there.
I have to agree with Nic, take advantage of the manufacturers warranty and send it in for repairs, it should cost you nothing providing you are not at fault.
Just phone Acer support and they will send a courier to pick it up.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Unable to easily connect to internet explorer

Okay, first off Internet Explorer is not a very good internet provider. What you need to do is get rid of that and download Mozilla Firefox from download.com. Just go to download.com and search Mozilla Firefox, it will be the one with the most downloads. If you can get on e-mail, I can e-mail the setup for it to you also. My e-mail is a_hale16@yahoo.com.
