No there is no special programming, as long as the wii-mote is working properly (it is, correct?) then you should be able to just plug it in tho the guitar and it will work. I think you may have just discovered why they were selling this set. It sounds like the guitar has hardware problems... it sounds like you are doing everything correctly.
