Decided to use Free Agent Pro dedicated to Time Machine and purchase a separate harddrive to just use as a 2nd external drive to store photos, etc.

My Pleomax external hard drive stopped working on my MacBook (OS Maverick). It worked for one day and that was it. It flashes green and red when connected.

Probably not an issue with the MacBook but with the Pleomax drive. Be sure the drive is getting enough power to begin with. If it came with a 2 headed USB cable be sure to connect BOTH USB connectors to the Mac. You may also want to try the drive while your COMPUTER is plugged in and charging. Laptops and external drives don't always get along due to power differences and specifically laptops who do not want to waste their battery power on an external drive. If all else fails, try the drive on another computer just to make sure it is a drive problem and then contact the manufacturer for a repalcement drive.

Does the simpletech pinin furina design 32gb operate with a Macbook?

Yes, you can use the SimpleTech Pinafarina drive with your Macbook, you will need to format it for use first. Make sure you have all your data backed up as formatting will destroy your data. First, connect the drive to your Macbook and turn it on. Then open Disk Utility, you can find this by going to the Applications folder, then open the Utilities folder. Locate the drive on the left of the window, then choose the Partition Tab. Choose 1 partition where it says Current, then click on the Option button and change the partition map to GUID, click OK. Then choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) under the format dropdown menu. Click apply and OK and your drive will format for the Mac. The drive should now appear on your desktop ready to use.

Were those files and folders something like System Volume Information, System Restore, Recycle Bin, and Desktop.ini? If yes then these are the folders that store the data about what is in the NTFS partition - deleting them makes the partition unreadable.
To recover your files from it you must install this program in a Windows pc

and run it. A better but paid program

The hard disk inside your unit is dying and the data on it gets corrupted. There's nothing you can do to fix that - either you open the case and replace the hard disk or you replace the entire unit.

It sounds like your old laptop drive had 4 partitions on it.
If that is the case and you want it to be only one partition then you'll have to back up anything you want to keep in those partitions and reformat the drive as one partition.
You can reformat the drive using the Disk Management utility in Windows.

Formatted (on PC) 1TB WD hard drive cannot be altered on Macbook

What OS are you running? What is it formatted as FAT32 or NTFS and how big are the partitions. Various operating systems, hardware and formatting schemes have different limitations. If you want to use the drive in Leopard formatted with NTFS which is the only way to create partitions larger than 20 or 30 GB you may need to install an NTFS file system driver like FUSE.
The other option is to format it as HFS and install Macdrive 7 in Windows to use Mac formatted drives in Windows.

Hope this helps.

One Touch 4 Maxstor 750 external hard drive installing on a macbook pro

If you have a hard-drive that is formatted as NTFS which stands for (New Technology File Ssytem), Mac OS X can only read the partition. It cannot write to it.

The trick is to use your drive manfacturer's disk-formatting software which will allow you to format your drive as one large partition. Formatting your drive as one large FAT 32 partition is the easiest way to make a drive so it can be used with both PC's and Mac's.

Another option is to use a third part utility so that you can read a MAC formated harddrive's from your PC. Here is one option: http://www.macdrive.com/.

Good luck.
