Question about LG 52SX4D 52" HDTV

1 Answer

Some time after changing out the lamp on a LG 52SX4D, the red disappeared from the image. It is all greens and blues now. In some of the menu headers, there is a dark burgundy/brown color, but this is the only hint. I verified that the color wheel is intact and spinning. I went into the service menu and reset the lamp hours. I adjusted the contrast and color temperature to see if they would make any difference. I also reset to factory default settings. I have tested from HDMI, composite, and coax sources. All do the same thing. Are there any other service settings that I may need to check? Also, is there a single system board that controls the color?

Orange blinking light under a small picture of a light bulb? Then turns to a red light?
Sounds like the same problem I had when I picked up my LG 52SZ8R. After replacing the lamp the TV ran fine.

Easiest way to see if the lamp is the problem is to take it out, and look at the peice of wire in the globe as you would an old light globe.

If you need help, download the following manual, and look at page 9.

If it does come down to you needing to replace the ballast contact: http://www.statewideapp.com.au/index.php?selectedContent=1188381775
They should be able to give you a quote and part number, if you don't like their quote you can always use the part number to search for one thats cheaper.

TV won't screen won't come on. You can hear it

Are you getting a soild red light and a blinking green, or both green and red blinking, that indicates your blub is toast. Time for a new lamp, I'm in the process of doing just that as mine bit the dust this morning. Up here in the great white North the blub costs $220.00. I your lucky and your down South you will pay about half that.

I've had this set since 05 and I am on my second lamp Toshiba paid for the first one not it's my turn, great set otherwise.

Tv has a green tint

Its cause this the life span of the lamp is come to an end. To see the life hours of your lamp. Just go to the service mode.If you inclined to get into service mode on LG DLP TVs, simply turn your system off, then use the remote and press the following buttons with about .5 to .75 seconds delay between presses: MUTE-1-8-2-POWER. Once in the service menu, select the bottom item, Options, and from there you can reset the lamp .

Good luck:

Tv Turns on then stops after a few minutes

This set uses a lamp and a bad lamp will cause this symptom. You should be able to get the lamp out yourself and get a part # off it.

Converging green?

jaymz, you can`t move the green, the green tube is always mounted in the middle and is not adjustable from the convergence menu. red & blue should be converged one at a time on top of the green, once you have accomplished this the crosshatch grid will be white and that means your done :)
