WOW!! I thought i was loosing my mind until i read all of your same problems. It is funny how we are all different people from different places and we have been having the same problems with this camera and trying the same solutions. I took mine back 2 days after i bought it and exchanged it for the same camera. Took the new camera home and the ********* flashing charger light is starting to **** me off!! I cannot believe this is happening with this product and that we are all having the exact same problem. There HAS to be something that we are missing or doing wrong. I am going to call Casio and curse someone the hell out! I will update you all on what they tell me..

I purchased the camera and a spare battery in Hong Kong. Came back to the States and first battery, that was included, developed this problem a few months later. Changed to spare battery, it worked for a couple of months and after several weeks of not using the camera, the battery would not charge. What are the chances of getting two defective batteries?

My 1-yr old camera just developed the same problem. If you call the Technical Support phone number, a Casio representative will take down your information and offer to send you a replacement battery for free. I was told that this is a common problem with rechargeable batteries. The representative was really helpful and friendly; she told me that the new battery should arrive within 3-4 business days.

try connecting a 9volt battery with a couple of jumper wires to the correct terminals on the battery for about 30 seconds then put it on charge(positve to positive negative to negative) if the battery is to low the charger won't pick it up and start the charging cycle by connecting the 9volt to it t will put a small charge to it to start the charger

Battery in cradle don't charge

Two reasons. Either the battery is dead or the cradel's charging circuit is faulty. But the red light shows that the cradle is fine. SO, the axe falls on the battery.

My Casio Exilim EX-S880 wont turn on. Battery is dead but the camera wont charge on the charger. The red charger light is flashing when then camera is placed on it. This red light used to stay on...

I found this while trying to solve my exact same problem.. It worked for me after about 7 times. Some other people on the site said it worked for them after 20 times. Good luck!

My NP 20 gave me the flashing red light of death and I got Casio to replace it. Then I had the same problem with my second NP 20 so I dug around for a way to fix it and I found the following advice on a site called FixYa. It worked instantly and I didn't risk ruining my battery.

I had the same problem as this.
what i did was...
i kept putting the battery on the charger then took it off as soon as the red light came on.
i did this about 6 times.
doing this puts a bit of charge in the battery each time before the charger starts to flash.
after the battery as got enough charge in it it can start to charge.
hope this helps.

Battery or the camera cradel

Parts or a new cradle are hard to find. I don't think Fuji makes them any more, although, depending on where you live, that country's distribution source may still have stock. What we sell our customers is a small charger which recharges the battery outside of the camera. They are about $10 US and plug into the USB port on any computer.

Camera will power-up only when connected to DC

This from Sony website:

To ensure the proper operation of the battery, please do as follows after charging the battery.
(1) When charging by connecting the AC adaptor directly to the camera Pleasedisconnect DC IN from the camera after charging is completed. Also, itis recommended to remove the battery from the camera when charging iscompleted as the battery is discharged slightly even if the camera isturned off.
(2) When charging with the supplied USB cradle Ifthe camera is installed in the USB cradle, please leave the power cordconnected to the outlet (when using the power strip, please leave itsswitch to on).If you want to unplug the power cord (or switch off thepower strip) after the battery has been charged using the USB cradle, please remove the camera from the USB cradle. Also, it is recommendedto remove the battery from the camera when charging is completed as thebattery is discharged slightly even if the camera is turned off.
NOTE: When you charge the battery by connecting the AC adaptor directly tothe camera or using the USB cradle, do not leave it with the power corddisconnected from the outlet.

Should it not work, continue with the manual reset procedure below:
  1. Turn off the camera.
  2. Ensure the camera is not connected to an AC power adapter.
  3. Remove the battery from the camera for 15 seconds.
  4. Reinsert the battery.
  5. Turn on the camera.
NOTE: If the issue is not resolved by performing a reset procedure, service may be required .

Battery will not charge

Here is how you fix the problem (without using a 9V battery method...).

The battery doesn't charge because it's been fully discharged.

What you do is you put the camera into the cradle. Now you see that the Red LED comes on solid for a while. It's charging for a few seconds. Then it starts blinking. When it does that - TAKE THE CAMERA OUT of the cradle.

Now put the camera back and repeat. Do this six or eight times. Each time what's happening is that the battery is getting a tiny bit of charge. After 8 times the LED will come on red and stay solid red.

Bingo, no problem!

I have just taken the lead and stretched it completely straight. Hey presto - the camera charger is now on red constantly. It has not been charging for over a week. Could be there is a kink inside the lead ??
