Sounds like one of the sensors in the doc feeder that detects the size of the paper has gone bad.
Also, make sure you always close the document feeder when making copies. Sometimes it helps to put a blank sheet of paper over the back of a small object if you're copying something small.
You take the paper with face to print Up and the top of the paper towards the interior of the ADF. You can also put a stack of papers. When you press the copy/scan command from the machine console or the computer, the automatic document feeder starts.
If the jam is consistent with exiting the drum, there's a chance the drum isn't secure and is the paper is getting caught on the exposed area of the drum. If this isn't the case, there may be paper caught in the feeder wheels.

lower paper feeder is out of position. you have to open the printer and get to the lower paper tray feeder. push the plastic gear wheel and axe into position again.
Its most likely to be the pickup roller and separation pad which will need replacing.
as a short term fix try cleaning them with some isopropyl alcohol
