Did you clean out the lamp ventilation duct in the back of the set? If it's clogged with dust you could have an overheating problem (this also kills lamps). You may need to unplug the set and remove the back cover to make sure you can evict all of the dust bunnies in the duct. Also, vacuum out all of the vent slots in the back cover. Try not to get any dust into the bulb or optics.
Safety notes: the set should have been off for at least 30 minutes before doing anything to avoid getting burned on the lamp. Do not touch the electronic circuit board, even if it is dusty (just use your breath to blow the worst of the dust off the circuitry). Touching the circuit board or using a vacuum cleaner on it can cause damage by static electricity charging. There is also a possibility of getting an electric shock from capacitors still holding a charge. Normally, this stuff is nowhere near the lamp ventilation hardware, so it should not be a problem avoiding it. But definitely make sure you unplug the set before doing any of this.
If this doesn't fix it, repost and we'll look for the more arcane answers.
I had the same problem and had replaced my lamp. come to find out my set was blinking red 5 times and come to find out it was the lamp power supply block. I ordered the new part, took my time installing it (was not that hard and a whole lot cheaper than a repair shop) and it was good as new. the only thing you have to know is how many times the red light is blinking.
