Re: BLUE RAY DRIVE
Yeah, sony doesn't have good customer support. umm. how long have you had it? if it is dusty around the vents then it is probably dusty inside too and *may*be preventing the drawer from moving properly. but it may also be the belts/gears /motors.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Download the update from your PC save it on a usb flash drive. On the flash drive create a folder and name it PS3 and inside of that folder make a folder and name it UPDATE. Save the download into the file that you named UPDATE make sure you name the downloaded file PS3UPDAT.PUP. Put the usb into a usb port on your PS3 and goto system update and do the update via storage. Make sure the files and the downloaded contene named files are all in upper caps.
I've got exactly the same problem i'm running 3.10 on my PS3 and have tried restoring the system doing a full format of the drive you name it. nothing works. The update 3.15 downloads fine but it gets to 21% of the install and brings up this 8002F147 error. I can't play any Blue Ray films on it or go on the web as all it wants to do is run this update which it can't. Additionally I also can't turn on via
the PS button. It's a 80GB one that i've just brought off ebay.
Ps. I called Playstation support at the weekend and they advised that I take it around my friends and try running the update which made no differnce which I thought it wouldn't as i've tried it via flash etc which downloads fine it's an install problem......
PS3 has a AACS (Advanced Access Control System) is a copyright-protection technology that is used on Blu-ray Discs. The copyrighted content is protected by setting an encryption key on both the disc and the device used to play the disc.
An AACS encryption key expires in 12 to 18 months and must be renewed, so no matter if you have a new PS3 or using it already make sure you keep upgrading your PS3 firmware regularly.
There are two ways to update as listed below:
* Update via Internet * Update via Storage Media
Download the update data directly to the system from the Internet. The latest update is automatically downloaded.
Select Settings -> System Update, Download the latest update data from the Internet. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the operation.
You also perform this system update via a storage media, Use update data saved on a disc, Memory Stick™ or other media. Download the update data from a Web site using a PC
Hope this helps, Wishing you happy holidays and happy Gaming
What are you saying you screw up your $600 dollar console. OMFG i mean common man. Jeez luis. Well since you have your ps3 already open your ps3 system you should open again and extract cod4 out of your blue ray drive before you hook it up and all that. So take the game out connect the blue ray drive back put the system together and power it up. See if that works.
Normally ps1-ps2-ps3 has Red laser beam lens system. So it cannot read Blue ray disks. its not possible until you change it lens system. there are some commericially available Blue laser lens system. Buy one and fix it with authorised service personnel. all the best
