I am shooting in raw i cant download pictures properly or get my pictures printed off the the card

RAW images are what it means. You should convert them into a printable format such as JPEG before you can take prints. I strongly suggest that you shoot in JPEG mode to avoid all these headaches!

CR2 files are created when you shoot RAW files. Your computer cannot read them without a Canon RAW plugin in whatever image processing software you're using.

Your camera can be set to record in JPEG, RAW or JPEG and RAW.

I hope this has helped you, if not then please add a comment to explain what additional information you'd like regarding this problem but otherwise please take a moment to rate my answer.

When I shoot in Raw + jpeg, no raw filkes show up.

I had the same problem, basically all you need is a RAW converter, the canon software should do and should be provided with the camera and if you havent got that then there is a wide selection of free software on the internet im sure of it just search for it, or a lot easier not to use RAW in the first place...

My canon EOS 40D with 18 - 55 IS , when continuous shooting mode is selected, slows down after taking 6 shots. However as per the spec its capable of taking 75 jpegs or 17 RAW images. Please resolve this...

Slow down after taking 6 RAW files ...
A RAW file is Approx. 12.4MB.
The memory usage is approx. 74,4 MB
The internal memory (Buffer) has a size for up to 75 JPEG compressed images.

Which size has the smallest jpg?
JPEG/Small: Approx. 1.2MB (1,936 x 1,288)
The Buffer is approx. 80 MB.

The data are calculated under Canons laboratory conditions.

The maximum Burst (the 17 shoots) means that the camera is writing to the card and the buffer is full. Than the cam will stopping taking pictures.

Which kind of Card do you use?
Check the spec for the card (write speed) and maybe buy a faster card.

Pictures taken are not sharp

If you are upgrading from a previous "point and shoot" digital camera, the pictures from your digital SLR may seem "soft" by comparison. This is simply a difference in the built-in processing performed by the camera. Most DSLRs output images with less sharpening applied. I believe the philosophy is that the sharpening algorithm causes data loss, so less of it is used on the high-end cameras with the assumption that you can apply more later on your PC.
You can try shooting a picture using the RAW capture mode, then editing it using a program on your PC. By applying sharpening to the RAW image, you will most likely be able to produce a very sharp image.
You can also take a JPEG image with the camera and apply additional sharpening on the PC, but this process is more lossy with regards to the original data.

Are you using Photoshop or Photoshop elements? Most other imaging programs will not open raw files.
