If the laptop is old enough(or has been used enough) or has ever beed used to the point the laptop has shut itself off, but then you restartd it again, then your battery may be at fault. it may have gone into a coma(this actually does happen) and the battery is now completely dead. you will be unable to charge it and may have it explode if you do attempt to do so. you will need a new battery if that is the case. but if the problem is simpy with the connector, you will need a whole new laptop(or a new mother board, which is so expensive that you might as well get a new laptop) hope that helps.

Acer Aspire One battery only charges to about 23%

Sadly, the only other thing you can do is buy a new battery in this instance; or continue with what you're doing.

One of the things you could do, is do not charge the computer until it dies. Batteries have a life span, and this as you may or may not know is reduced by charging, or even worse damaged more by just keeping it plugged in, charging it when it's half way charged and such on so fourth. You can increase life span by just letting it die, and then recharging it. It sounds like your battery has got to a weak point from all that charge, unplug, fall, charge. I apologize for your battery.

Acer Aspire 5734z-4725 battery not charging

If your laptop computer runs normally on the ac adapter, but the battery won't charge, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

1) Remove the battery from the system.

2) Look at the connectors in the bay and on the battery for signs of physical damage.

3) Check the battery charge by pressing the status button or image on the battery near the LED's. Note: The lights indicate the current amount of charge on the battery. If all the LED's come on when you press on the butto, the battery is fully charged. If fewer lights are lit, then the battery is partially charged. If any lights flashm or blinkm there could be a problem with the battery.

4) Reinsert the battery; puch until it locks into place and the latch snaps back to the locked position.

Laptop battery does not charge. Even chnaged to new battery

Does the Power Output on your power adapter match the Rating on the bottom of your laptop ? They are both printed on a sticker on each.

If so, your charging circuitry may have gotten damaged from the first defective battery and or damaged your power adapter :(

Hope that helps

Power issue

The Acer TravelMate 3000 is a laptop intended for business travellers who need the extra muscle of a fast processor and dual batteries. With mobile computers, it is very important to have not only a good rechargeable battery, but a solid power supply that needs very little maintenance to be able to keep operating. Losing a power supply or battery on a long trip can be extremely inconvenient, and there are several actions you can do to troubleshoot and prevent that situation.

Power Supply
The power supply (PS) is generally a solid piece of hardware not prone to damage or breakdown. The most common causes when a laptop is not receiving enough power from the PS is when one or more of the connections (wall, adapter or pc) gets loose. If your laptop informs you that it is not recieving enough power (or any) from the PS, make sure to manually inspect it to ensure the connections are solidly together and plugged in. While inspecting the cord, look for crimps or exposed wires that indicate serious damage. Crimps can typically be straightened out, but if there is physical damage to the cord, it must be replaced. Additionally you can check the adapter, the rectangular box, to see if it is overheating. As a precaution against fire, there are circuit breakers inside the adapter that will trip if the adapter begins to overheat. Normally, these circuits require you to unplug the power cables from the adapter, cord and wall before reassembling them in order to reset. On rare occasions, the circuit breaker will fail to trip and actually burn out from the inside; this requires replacing the entire PS.

Battery
The most common reason for power troubles on the Acer 3000 TravelMate, as well as most laptops, is a faulty battery. Batteries have a limited lifespan, and their ability to store a charge gradually reduces over time. Excessive use and overheating rapidly drain the battery and can often prematurely kill the battery. If you are having problems with a new battery or laptop charging or storing a charge, remove the battery and inspect it for physical damage. When inspecting the battery, pay careful attention for liquid, burn marks or pitting. If you discover any of these, carefully clean the battery and its connectors (copper ends) with a dry cloth. Once clean, reattach the battery and plug the PS back in to the laptop and wall. When possible, you should always use the PS instead of relying on the battery. This will prolong the battery's life.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

My computer won't charge! The problem is that where i plug in the charging adapter that "little hole" is loose and won't keep the adapter in, ultimately not letting it charge

This is really a physical damage to the slot for the plug.
There are some tweaks that you might try to keep it there, like pushing it and holding it with something, or use scotch tape or something similar, but ultimately it might affect the life of your battery.
There's really nothing substantial you can do other than changing the power adapter.

Replacement battery for Dell Inspiron 1501 won't charge

If your old battery was doing the same (not charging), then is is because the charger is not charging the battery. Do you have a friend with a Dell laptop? Maybe you can use a borrowed charger to test and see if it will charge the batteries. To answer your question , no Dell does not have anything built in to prevent you from using a 3rd party battery.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Seems to be a motherboard issue either with the battery connection or the adapter port.
