My furnace fan will not shut down, and it is cold air

Check on your thermostat to see if the fan switch is set to on. Not knowing the model of the furnace it can be difficult to give more detailed instructions.

My Dayton NG furnace runs a couple minutes thens shuts down There is a fault code #4 after the burner shuts down Appears to be 3 limit switches, Can I checkeck these with an ohmeter as it is running to...

To check them you should power the unit down, then using your volt ohm meter check the limits. These limits should read normally closed or dead short, if it is open that is your culprit. If it happens to be one of the limits in or around the burner chamber please inspect the(burner chamber) heat exchanger for cracks or pin holes as this would leave carbon monoxide to be released in to your home. These limits are for over heating and that occurs once you have holes in the heat exchanger letting hot gasses escape out to the blower area of your furnace.

My furnace light is telling me that the limit swich is open so what can I do it is starting to get cold in here. Help please?

on most furnaces the limit switch will reset its self.not knowing which furnace you have i will guess that there is maybe a resetable switch in the fan compartment or the roll out switch at the burner opening. either of these problems need your furnace looked at. the limit switch is over heating, bad motor dirty filter blocked air return, and the roll out switch would mean something is wrong in the combustion chamber

Can i shut down the gas furnice to change the air filter with out touch the temotast??

Yes you can and if originally installed by code ther
should be either a fused disconnect or a breaker mounted on the furnace. The fuse will have a cover
and a black switch below or above it.

If nothing is there but romex wire cable, then it is
hard wired in and most likely will have to be shutoff
at the fuse or breaker panel.

It is more dangerous to turn off at the fuse or breaker
panel. I recommend shutting the thermodtat to
the off position. If the furnace is within 10 years
old you could remove the top door and then lower door. The lower door when in place holds a switch
in that lets the power pass through it, when removed
your furnace should not operate.

Take my advive3 and do the simple thing and turn
the thermostat to the off position.

My dayton NG heater fan will not shut off properly

Sounds like a bad fan switch. The switch is located on the heat exchanger and is 110 volt bi-metal switch. Follow the wires from the blower going back to the heatexchanger. Graingers can get you a new switch if you give them your model number.

Furnace flame goes low fan stays on

if the gas pressure is good on inlet and outlet of valve u might wanna chk the burner trays and manifold for flakes, dirt, spider webs ect... once u kno the passages are clear from obstruction you can focus on the mechanical. (sounds like gas valve may be getting weak and not able to open fully)
