Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

Washer will not aggetate on wash cycle. I have done nothing to fix it.

Does the agitator have an auger at the top, if so you will need to replace the agitator dogs in the auger section. Part #80040 If no auger is present you probably have a broken motor coupler.Part #285753A

Washer won't aggetate or spin out black dust on floor

Motor coupler has worn out. The black dust is from the rubber disc. It's an easy fix.

I have an older (about 1998) Whirlpool washer. After the aggetation cycle the machine fails to drain. We can back up the cycle to aggetate and begins aggetate again. It again fails when it gets to the...

You quite possibly have a small article of clothing such as a sock, that may have been washed over the top of the inner tub and is in the outer tub and blocking the drain hose to the pump.
If you can remove the front cover, you can check to see if the pump is clear and also the belts underneath.
If it appears to have something in the pump you can pull the hose (be prepared for alot of water) and pull it out of the pump.
If it is in the outer tub, you can fish out the blockage with a straighten coat hanger wire with a small hook bent on one end.
