the model is a 110 made by whirlpool per another site. the omms on the thermal fuse reads 00.1 to 00.2 so does that mean it is good to go? and the door switch does not help as the whole light unit is missing ( used dryer) any advise? thanks

The most common cause of a dryer that will not turn on, is a blown thermal fuse, bad power cord, or a broken drum belt. If the voltage at the wall receptacle is correct, check the voltage again at the terminal block where it connects to the dryer. Make sure you UNPLUG the dryer and remove the the small access cover where the power cord is installed. If good, the problem is INTERNAL to the dryer. If bad, you need to replace your power cord.

If the problem is internal, the thermal fuse will be mounted on the blower fan housing. It is a small plastic looking component (usually white in color) with two wires attached to it. Disconnect the wires before taking any resistance checks. If the fuse is good, it should read something close to zero ohms. If bad, you will read an infinite reading. These fuses DO NOT reset and must be replaced if bad.

Some dryer's are equipped with a "Broken Belt Switch", that disables the dryer from running if the drive belt breaks. This keeps the belt from becoming wrapped around the drive motor shaft and causing damage to the motor. Since you did not include a model number, I cannot verify if your dryer is equipped in this manner.

Another cause of a dryer that will not turn on, is a broken door switch. An easy method to test the switch is to open the door and press by hand. If the dryer drum light is working, you should be able to toggle the light on and off. If the switch is found to be defective, it must be replaced.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

All these sites are reputable and have competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations that you can use to locate and properly identify any parts you may need. If the model number is correct, the part number you may need are as follows:

If you have any questions about these repairs, or need instructions on how to access any of these components, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

The Thermal Fuse is good. Unplug the dryer and see if you can access the door switch terminals. You should see the resistance vary between an open and short as you toggle the switch. If the switch is good, you need to check to see if the belt is still intact.

At a MINIMUM, you should ALWAYS include a brand name or model number. The "110" number you provided is the manufacturer code which indicates the appliance was made by Whirlpool. This is NOT the model number. I still do not have an model number and cannot give you precise answers without the ability to verify how your dryer is constructed.

No Heat

Hi, I worked on one of these yesterday and have found that the thermal fuse blows first. If your dryer has the lint filter on top then the thermal fuse is behind the back panel and is located on the same duct as the lint filter. It will usually have blue wires on it instead of black or red.
