Question about Canon PIXMA MP780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Canon MP830 3 & 1 machine

I recently purchased a Canon MP380 fax, copier, printer & scanner from
Staples approximately 3 months ago. I installed (replaced) the larger black ink cartridge, however, it will not light up. I need to constantly get up & re-insert this cartridge; Sometimes, I even have to re-insert the last cartridge as well.
I know how to change cartridges; how can I solve this problem? what is the nearest Canon service center in Costa Mesa, Ca. 92626? Shall I take it back to Staples? Please advise.

I am not certain why this keeps happening, but my responses just don't seem to be getting posted and then I have to recreate them. Canon's site has a whole list of MP printers, that goes as follows: 360, 370, 390... Obviously, they have left out the one we are concerned about! :-)

At any rate, as I first stated, Staples return or exchange would likely be the best solution, if you can get it done. However, as their return policy (just as everyone else now) has become more and more restrictive and time-sensitive, this may not still be possible. If it is, I would try this first. I believe you have an issue with the sensor(s) and/or the print head(s), and it would be much easier not to have to go through the repair hassle...

(If it doesn't automatically come up with the list of issues, type in cartridge, and then choose ERROR INSTALL CARTRIDGE.

If you haven't tried it, try the reset procedure, which they state as:

  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)
  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.
  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
As the Canon links seem to come back with generic pages, below is the text relative to their statement that "Your Printer May Need Repair":

How to load staples in canon imagerunner 3300 copier


Does your copier have the finisher or saddle to have staples? There should be instructions in the user manuals for replacing staples. If you don't have the user manuals, I'd ask Canon to purchase replacement copies or look on the web.

To Whom It may Concern, I have a Canon MF3200 Copier/Scanner/Fax Machine and I am having difficulty receiving faxes. I am able to send faxes, but receiving them is impossible. The phone rings...


I began the whole installation process (which required a CD) from scratch and followed the directions of the Canon handbook that accompanied the printer when it was purchased.

Canon 440f won't scan


I had exactly as described on my new 4400f scanner. Have resolved by uninstalling the toolbox software (it was at 5.0.1.2), downloading toolbox s/w from canon site, file name is S6A04mux.exe - toolbox 5.0.1.1 Installed this and all works from the scanner front panel
