Ip address dynamic

Dynamic and Static addressing are the two main methods used for IP address assignments. Dynamic IP addresses are automatically obtained and nothing needs to be done on the user end. However, Static IP address information must be configured manually. If you do not have a router, you need to input your static IP information directly into your Apple Macintosh.

Click "Apple > System Preferences." Click the "Network" icon. Click the "TCP/IP" tab. Choose "Manually" in the Configure drop-down menu. Click in "Show" and choose your Ethernet device. This is usually called Built-in Ethernet. Enter your IP address into the IP Address field. Enter the Subnet Mask into the Subnet Mask field. If your service provider did not provide you with one, use the default of "255.255.255.0". Enter the Gateway address into the Router field. Enter the DNS Server into the DNS Servers field. Two should have been provided to you. Push the "Apply Now" button to confirm changes.

Linksis router wont work help me out

First of all contact your isp and get your connection settings. If you are able to setup the router using the cd provided then good. If you are still having problems then go ahead and contact linksys (remember linksys charges for the support). I suggest get a technician to assist you in setting up.

if you have a dialer , than right click on it and see its properties for its type. (ppoe or pptp).
if you are connected without a dialer, you probably have a dynamic ip.
you can also contact your isp and ask them.

How to connect to my PIX 501 and use Windows Remote Desktop?

Here's a real simple problem to your remote access problems.
Go to: http://www.logmein.com
Sign up for a free acct, download/install their free software on your Server.
Now go over to your laptop, login to your new logmein acct.
In the next page, you'll see your Server listed. Click on it - follow instructions to connect.
This will tunnel through whatever stuff you have on your network!
Trust me - esp. in your scenario, this is *by far* the *simplest remote connect you'll ever perform! And it just .... works! Everytime.

Hi,
Use should add arp proxy setting as the following:
Go to Interfaces and then click on PPTP/L2TP server from the PPTP/L2TP Page go to the Add ROute Tab.
Allowed Networks should be : All Nets
under Proxy Arp you have 2 Boxes:
One is: Available and the other is Selected.
Under Available click on LAN and move it to Selected.
now save and activate and it should work.

Experiencing 15-25KBps slowdown and instability on L2TP

the speed sounds normal to me, once you go wireless don't expect 100% of your bandwidth, the other problem can simply be interference from other wireless signals. Best way to defend against that is WPA or other wireless encryption and changing the wireless channel. Let me know how that goes @ copter64 on AIM

Setting up a PPtP server behind a WRT51AB Router

You?ll need to setup Port Forwarding to set up a PPtP tunnel behind a Linksys router. Please follow these instructions to setup the router to forwarding incoming PPtP traffic to your PPtP server: Getting Started 1. You must set a static IP address on the server. If you're unsure of how to do this please go to our Answer ID 534 for information on setting a static IP address in Windows. 2. Once the static IP address has been assigned please go to your desktop and double click on Internet Explorer (Located on the Start Menu in Windows XP) 3. Once "Internet Explorer" opens, please type http://192.168.1.1into the "Address Bar" and click GO 4. The "Enter Network Password" window will appear. Skip user name and type admin (admin is the default password) as the password, and click OK. 5. This will bring up the routers "Setup" section. Look under "Domain Name" and check what version of the firmware you're using. 6. You will need to click on the Advanced tab to the very right. Once the "Advanced" tab comes up please go to the Forwarding tab. Firmware prior to 1.32 This will not work with firmware prior to 1.32 Firmware between 1.32 and 1.36 Service Port Range 47 ~ 47 1723 ~ 1723 IP Address 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.3 Firmware after 1.36 up to 1.40m Service Port Range 47 ~ 47 1723 ~ 1723 Protocol Both Both IP Address 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.3 Firmware after 1.40m Customized Application VPN VPN Service Port Range 47 ~ 47 1723 ~ 1723 Protocol Both Both IP Address 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.3 Finishing up Click Apply, then Continue. Restart your computer
