Question about Canon Cameras
4 GB memory cards do work, i use one. just look along the left side of the memory card. there is an arrow labelled lock
slide the button on the left side so it isn't locked.

The IXUS 50 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.
