Hello, if your good at taking the back off the machine, and you have a long necked oiler, if your looking at back of machine, and removed the back cover and then the torq screws holding the plastic cover, on the right hand side of machine, with a flashlight, you might see an orange or black color belt, you may also see small white rollers that put pressure on this small belt, what you will need to do is oil the small rollers, there are normally 2 of them, don't oil just the roller, oil the ends that make contact with the metal holder. this should quiet this portion of machine.

Is there a way to get in and lube the gears or something?

There are no lubrication points on these printers. They were discontinued many years ago, and are out of support by the manufacturer. It squeeks because it is old and worn, and the only permanent solution will be to replace it with a current model.

Push SCAN on my HP6310 and get no scan options

You need scan software running on your computer. It won't scan unless it knows how to scan and where to send the scanned image. The scan options will be on your computer.
