Check what format the Movie Download is and check the Error when playing the movie, most probably this is a Codec issue one reason why the move cannot be played.
If you are using Windows Media player you may need Codecs updated on your computer, also try download VLC player try playing the Movide on VLC player if still it will not play download codec see the LINK provided for the Download of the Codecs, after you click the link select the Full Version and install it on your computer.
Try downloading VLC player, if this does not play your videos then it is your Drive that needs a driver update or has gone bad. If VLC player does play it or asks you to install mpeg2 codecs, then all you need to do is google "mpeg2 codec download for windows media player X" (X being the current version of WMplayer you are using). The reason behind this problem is that Windows media player does not come preloaded with a full library of codecs, there are packages of codecs that you can download such as divx codecs that will have the majority of commonly used video compression decompressors.
What operating system do you have? If you have Vista, you may be missing the codec you need.
I'd recommend getting Intervideo WinDVD or something similar for watching DVDs. You'll have much more control and a better viewing experience than using Microsoft's crappy player.
You may have a DVD drive in your laptop, but you'll need to have the codec to play DVD movies. You can find DVD playing software on the internet. If you have a DVD burning software like Nero sometimes they come with software to play movies. Google DVD codec and a bunch will come up,
