Nothing is wrong with your lens. when you mount the 80-200 make sure the aperture ring is set on the highest f-stop (F22 or F32). there is a small lock that will lock the aperture ring in this position. if the camera thinks the ring is not in the "highest" "F" position you will get the error.

Do you mean "fEE"?

You're apparently using a lens with an aperture ring. Turn the ring to its smallest setting (largest f/number). If the lens has an aperture lock, lock it. You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as on a lens without an aperture ring.

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest setting (largest f/number) and then forget it's there. You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as on lenses without an aperture ring.

When mounting either of my Sigma 70-300mmD lens on my Nikon D200 I get the fEE symbol. I've locked the lens at f22 with no results. It's worked flawlessly for me for years. Both lenses work beautifully on...

Have a close look at the iris ring to see if any think is broking off
or try moving the lens when it is locked on the camera to see if you lose the fee if so it may need a new mount

Error 11 at nikon camera

First, if you can try the lens on another camera body, please do. See if the same thing happens on a different camera body. If it does, it's a problem with the lens. If not, you need to look at the camera. You can verify it's the camera by placing a different lens onto the body and see if you're experiencing the same problem. If it is indeed the body, I would suggest you take a pencil eraser and gently but firmly clean the contacts located on the lens mount. It's my experience (I also shoot with a D200) that often times when a lens isn't autofocusing, it's due to direty contacts either on the lens itself or the camera body. Cleaning them is a good start though and will narrow your issues down to the lens or the camera body. After cleaning, try the lens again to see if it's working correctly. If not, send it to Nikon in New York for repairs.

Lens will not open up all the way

Is the maximum available aperture dependent on the focus distance? Many macro/micro lenses "dim" slightly as you focus in close.

See if you get 2.8 focused at infinity.

Nikon d200 sprayed with water

I would suggest that you give the contacts a good clean (gently of course) on both the camera body and lens'.

Also although the water would make no difference, make sure if you have any lens' with aperture rings to put them round to F33 or the smallest aperture, if they aren't this will cause the fEE.

Hope this helps

80~200 not focusing on my D200

If lens has aperture ring, set to min aperture before mounting (f22 etc)
With heavier lenses it is not so easy to tell when lens clicks in all the way to mount, Lens wont autofocus if not clicked in to mount just so. Also both camera and lens should be set to AF.

make sure the aperture ring on the lens is set to the minimum aperture number, (usually a orange colored number), i.e. f22,f32
