Hello, I have a 5 year old 47" projection tv that has worked perfectly until recently. It was running fine one night and I turned it off for the night. The next night when I turned it on, there were blue and yellow shadows on the screen. I tried the majic focus with no success. Any suggestions? I don't have the model number right now since I am at work. Sorry about that. Thank you for your time. Kevin

You have a bad convergence circuit. You will need to replace the convergence ICs minimum and could have a problem with the digital convergence box. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4220499-change_projection_tv_convergence_ics which explains the problem, where to get the parts at the best price and how to complete the repair.

The most common power is the main power board that goes bad on that set, and it is going to run around 500 on repairs. If it is a processor problem, then you need to leave it unplugged for 40MIN. and it will rest to normal, but if it don't you are looking at a repair job.

Whole Screen Turns Blue in seconds....

This could be a problem with the Blue CRT it archs or overdrives intermittently. I would have a technician test the set and give you an estimate - if it's the CRT it's usually not worth repair- but it could be video or a screen voltage related problem. It's worth the estimate.

Actually, it seems the the ballast might have got damaged. This seems more like a ballast issue, it's easy to fix, plus ballasts run around 60 dlls.

Yes, the convergence output IC's have gone bad. They need to be replaced. This is a very common problem with all projection tv's. It is the job of those outputs to properly align where the red, green and blue beams land on the screen.

If you put magnet speaker ( Standard speaker) near the TV, first you must move that speaker away from your TV because this will cause your colour TV screen color scattered. Then switch off your TV for 5 hrs. then switch it ON again your problem will be solved if the degaussing coil working.

Samsung HCL4715W will not power on

At five years old, I doubt it will be worth replacing the power supply , a picture tube or two and possible the signal board. Cut your loses and get a new set.
