Question about Magic Chef Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have an upright refer only unit that I use in my garage. The door does not always close as it should. Is there an adjustment I could make on it so the door closes easier and stays closed? It appears to be sagging away from the hinge as well. I wonder if there is a new angled nylon washer that goes under the door and on top of the bottom hinge to facilitate the closing of the door.

The chamberlane liftmaster professional 1/2 hp garage door where I rent, had the door only replaced. Are there certain doors only that will work with this unit? It hasn't worked right since. 1

You need to adjust your force settings and reset your limits to match your new door. this very easy to do, pull up program instructions on your computer. Or contact the owner or property manager to see if they will send a garage door tech out to do this. should only be the cost of a service call 50 - 65 dollars.

What does the purple button light flashing on 1/2 horsepower craftsman garage door opener

I think the adjustment mode is on.

For example, that's from Craftsman manual:

""
Setting the Force
The force setting button is located on the left panel of the motor unit. The force setting measures the amount of force required to open and close the door.
1. Locate the purple button on the left panel of the motor unit (Figure 1).
2. Push the purple button twice to enter the opener into Force Adjustment Mode (Figure 2). The LED (Indicator Light) will flash quickly.
3. Push the remote control or control console (Figure 3). The door will travel to the DOWN (close) position.

""

Actually, you should just read carefully your garage door opener unit's manual.

Craftsman 139.53673SRT1 garage door opener seems to hit that screw near the light ending at the up position pretty hard. Is ther a way to adjust that? maybe it always has, but noticed it more lately?

Close the door and while it is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit. Turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover.

Gagarge door does not reversw to open it always tries to close

Try adjusting the down limit. It is a control on the side of the motor unit. Turn it in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover until the door stops. Then tweak it until it is correct.

Garage door doesn't open and close properly

Loosen the chain enough so that you can remove it from the sprocket above the motor unit. With the door closed run the motor until the sprocket turns clockwise and stops. With everything attached replace and tighten the chain. Some adjusting of the up and down limits will probably be required.

Craftsman Garage Opener intermittently not closing

A couple things to check and do. If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and that the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit if necessary.

If the main light isn't flashing it may just be a simple adjustment. Locate the 'down force' adjustment on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Increase this about 1/4 turn and try.

For the light you should unplug the unit and then using a small screwdriver pull out on the center contact in the light socket.

Garage door won't close by remote in cold weather

There are ususally two adjustments on garage door openers...
One is for the pressure and the other is for the travel. Assuming that the travel adjustment is properly adjusted...

On a cold day things are a little tighter and it "wants" a little more downwards pressure to complete its cycle. Sorta like me in the morning -- I need a little coffee to get going on a cold morning.

Adjust the down pressure/force just enough to make the unit close properly. Do not over adjust the down pressure or you will find it won't stay closed. Sometimes the manufacturer doesn't make it too clear where this adjustment is, but you should be able to find it if you look around.

I have seen units that were installed for years all of a sudden need a little tweak of this adjustment.

Good luck
