My Fridge and Freezer goes off for a few days and then kicks back on after about 3 days..This has been happening for the last year..Everytime I call a repair person they don't know what the issue is or when they show up it comes back on. I have cleaned the coils and checked the circuit box. Not sure what to do?

I would guess it's the fan in the freezer compartment that's bad.

Either, the defrost timmer has had it, or the freezer defrost element has failed, the element is the most common cause of this type of problem. You have ice build-up in the freezer cores because it cant defrost, all frostfree units rely on cold air from the freezer to blow into the fridge, if the freezer cores become blocked, air can not pass to the fridge side. I bet you, if you left the unit off for 2 days to defrost totally,,,,with the doors open...then plugged it back in, it would work like new for 2 weeks.
Timmer or defrost element needs to be replaced...do not fall for the trick that the fridge mech. has to take it away, you tell him that this is the problem and you will save yourself ALOT of cash.

i have a 29 sidexside Ge refrigerator. tonight when i was trying to get ice,it stopped working and after a few seconds,with a clock like sound it began to work again.but everytime i try to get ice it happens again.last year i chanege the board. what is the problem,can i fix it?

Generaly the control board controls everything sometimes you have a bad thermister GE has a help line I beleive it costs 20.00 bucks but you will need a meter and know how to use it and they willl talk you thru the repair .

This is common, your machine needs a new defrost klixon. or it is (the klixon) loose from it's mount. Turning off the mach. gets a good defrost and
all is good for a time.

Hi. Your refrigerator is under 5 years and the compressor is still under full warranty. Call Sears and get it fixed parts and labor included. There should be no charge to you whatsoever. Make sure they understand that on the phone when you set up the appointment. You would be better off having a different technician from Sears come out to your house, as the one that came was not honest with you. Good luck, Mack

Gazzo, You are on the right track. I've been finding a lot of compressor failures on these Amana's. It's possible that the overload and relay for the compressor failed, but Im more inclined, from what I've seen, that the compressor is the problem. The compressor is covered under warranty, parts and labor for 5 years. I would call for warranty service...Catriver...post back.
