Re: Remove and check cartridge
First make sure cartridge is in right you dont have to force it
then when thats done make sure the printer is aligned and calibrated threw software on comp this will be what will run your print
make sure the " theres a name i cant think off the top my head"
a foam sponge that needs to be cleaned under the printer cartridges to the right
make sure you also have the right number for cartridges too
did you take the ink plastic strip off for shipping purposes

Usually the orange probably tells that the new ink cartridge might not recognized or low is taht a refilled a cartridge ??
Try this one
1 , Remove all the cartridges 2 . Used a clean paper wipe the area on thecartridge whre the ink goes out and specially the gold plate make sure its cflean 3 .CLean also the area where you put in thecartridge make sure its clean
4 .Make sure you inert the cartridges in the correct carrier (black for black carrier) (colored for colored carrier )
5 . close the lever of the carrier and make sure its properly locked -close thecover
6 .In case nothing happens
7 turn off first the printer
8 . Move the carrier manually from left to right ( 5x ) with your hands
I would like to advise you to remove the printer and uninstall the printer software from your PC, then reinstall the printer software to the PC, then connect the printer to be detected and installed. Now try to do the test described and see it it works out. Hope I could help . Good day
I have used the printer series that you have for years, and once in awhile, I get a new cartridge that won't immediately print. Often, there is just a bit of dried ink residue on the print head, and that won't allow the cartridge to work correctly.
Some simple things to try are :
1) Remove the black cartridge. and take a damp paper towel and gently swab the print head area. Next, apply some pressure to the sides of the black cartridge, until you see black ink oozing out of the print head. Repeat if needed. Once the ink starts flowing, blot off the excess, and install the cartridge.
If you can't get ink to flow, then the cartridge might be bad. Most of them have an expiration date on the packaging.
Hi, I had the same problem. I extracted both cartridges (colour and black), I cleaned both with alcohol and q-tips, I also cleaned in the same way the golden conections of the machine. Reinstalled and works (solved in only 5 minutes).
Important: This problem appeared when I was using the copy function in black and white, not in colour. Thats why I decided to clean BOTH cartridges (the colour one was very clean and black cartridge was the really dirty one).
Don´t ask me why, but it worked. Try cleaning both cartridges.
Hope it would be useful and I appologyze for my english (is not as good as I would like)
I had exaclty same problem - black not printing - was about to buy a new printer but did the following as a last resort about a month ago - remove the ink cartridges - removed the head and sat it on an a tissue - into the 'well' where the printer cartridges sit I dropped into there a very small amount of water as if to 'wash it through' where the ink would flow, (about a quarter tea spoon) - agitated it a bit - this flushed thru the gaps were the ink goes - I cleaned it all up - dried it with a tissue - put it all back together - it works fine now ! This was a last resort option for me but I guarantee it did work !
This happens if you refilled the cartridges, and forgot to take out the air..
Follow this steps.. 1. Switch on the printer, open cartridge bay, remove cartridge, dont close the cartridge holder flaps, directly unplug the power supply from the printer end.
2. take a soft cotton, lint free cloth, slightly swab it with pure water, wring the cloth so any excess water is removed, and clean the contact pins inside the printer cartridge holder..
3. clean the cartridge head by keeping it in hot water (about 50C) and then wiping it clean, keep it upright for a few min, and when both printer and cartridge is completly dry put it back in, voila it should not display the message now...
Maybe the ink well nozzle area has some dried ink left from the old cartridge. Remove the new cartridge carefully, and using a wet Q-tip,clean the area. Replace back the new black cartridge.
This worked for me ....good luck !
