Question about Poulan Pro 22inch 625 Series Briggs Stratton Gas Powered Side DischargeBagMulch Front Wheel Drive SelfPropelled Lawn Mower With Electric Start And High Rear Wheels PR625Y22RKP

1 Answer

Lawn mower wont start. Its a Poulan Pro PR625Y22RKP. Ive cleaned the carb, changed the oil, put new gas in it, has a new blade, new air fiter, new spark plug, and new primer bulb. It was running fine last season, then during this season a friend of mine used it on an overgrown lawn and kept overheating it and put the wrong oil in it. After finding that out I changed the oil and it worked fine up until a month ago when it started sputtering and dying after 10-15 minutes of use. It would start up after and hour of sitting, then I did everything listed above and now it wont start at all. Ive only had the thing almost two years now!! Whats wrong????

You may have sheared the flywheel key. This throws the timing off. If the shaft isn't bent replace the key.

We have a briggs and stratton mower that has been in storage for 5 years with very few hours on it, it will start but dies shortly after.

needs to have carb cleaned out. most likely the main jet in the carb is plugged. symptoms include only running on choke and dies when choke is turned to run. or if you only have a primer bulb, it will only run for only a few seconds every time it is primed. if you are qualified to work on the carb, dont forget to start with fresh gas and possibly new fuel line and filter. Poulan pro 625 lawn mower idles slow and rough

Try changing your plug and check gap and put in some fresh fuel. Empty out the old stuff especially if it has been there a while. Also check your low idle setting on the carb open it up a half turn for starters. Good Luck...

What direction do i turn the mower over to change the blade. without getting oil in the carb.

hi there

just tip the mower back so that it sits on the rear flap / exit opening ( with catcher off of course )
basically this means the spark plug will be pointing straight up towards the sky .

breathers are on the l/h side on these mowers ( only way to get oil in carb is to tip them either on their r/h or l/h side or to overfill them )

cheers pauly46

hope it helps

I have a Poulan Pro 650 model. I need to flush the fuel line because I think the gas I put in it is bad. I no longer have the manual so I don't have any instructions. Does anyone out there have any...

First step is to take the gas cap off and tip the mower to pour the old gas out. Leave the cap off for awhile and let the rest of the gas evaporate. After you have handled this, pull out the spark plug and pull the started a few times. This will push whatever gas is left in the carb and lines into the cylinder where it can evaporate or spill out of the spark plug hole.

First thing is to remove the excess oil. Take out as much as you need to to get to the line on the dipstick. Next, you may want to use a little WD-40 or similar cleaner to spray into the spark plug hole to thin the oil in there. Replace the spark plug and start the machine a number of times until it runs correctly. Using WD-40, remember the term "little". Good luck...Lee

Poulan pro lamn tractor will not start

Carb is most likely clogged from when the gas you had in it before gummed up. Take some carb cleaner and clean the heck out of the carb and everything will work just fine after that. I also recommend letting the carb cleaner sit for about 30 minutes before trying to start the machine
