After scanning using HP Photosmart 2613 all-in-one, the printer makes a clicking sound, as if it is readying to print.... the only way to clear the noise is to switch the printer off..

HI , no its not normal for a printer to make that sound - if I left the printer on all night it would continue to make the clicking sound as if it was readying itself to start printing....all night! It is not feasible to continue working with that noise in the background... and I dont believe a printer is configured to do that.

  • shajac Oct 07, 2010

Hi there, thanks for response. No - it continues with that noise until I switch it off. It seems to me that it only happens when I do any scanning. I thought that perhaps I should uninstall and then resinstall the software?

Try disconnecting it from the computer and unplug its power cord. press its power button for about 10 sec, reconnect the power cord and connect it back to the computer, turn it on, then open its properties and cancel any pending print jobs. try to scan and see how it goes. if the same thing happens, try to reinstall its drive and clear the paper tray. let me know how it goes and feel free to rate how useful the information is

if the first set of suggestions does not help, this would sound mechanical. if you can, reseat all of its removable components like catridges and head and if there is a firmware update available, you may also try installing it. also, ttry using the cancel option after each scan job and see if that helps.

It constantly makes this noise? That would be a very bad sign for sure.... but does the printer still print normally when you send something to it, or is it not working?

Thanks, let me know and I can definitely help

My HP photosmart C3135 won't print or scan

Solution 1 On the Computer:
Click Start and then go to Printers and Faxes (XP), Printers(Vista), Devices and Printers(Win 7)
1. Right Click on your printer Icon 2. Click Open or See What's Printing 3. Click the option that says Printer on the upper left corner of the window that pops up. 4. Make sure the only thing that is checked under that menu is Set As Default Printer. 5. If Use Printer Offline or Pause Printing has a check mark. Uncheck it.
Try printing again. I hope this helped.

How to use my hp photosmart C5280 All in One scanner unsing mac leopard

When you install the Full Feature software for your printer, you receive the HP Photosmart Studio imaging software and the HP Utility printer management software. You can use either of these programs to scan, and can create custom settings in both.

In general, use HP Photosmart Studio to scan pictures if you want to edit them to adjust color, crop, remove red eye, etc. Use HP Utility to set up scan tasks you use often, such as scanning to a certain folder or software application, or attaching the scanned item to an email. If your printer has a display, you also use HP Utility to designate which scan tasks should appear on the printer display menu when you start a scan from the controls on the printer.

Make sure that the printer is connected to the computer. Turn it on. Place the item with the print side down on the scanner glass.

Use HP Photosmart Studio to start a scan: Click the HP Photosmart Studio icon in the Dock. Click the Scan button. Select your HP product in the Device Name list, if necessary, and then click Continue. From the Scan Profiles screen, click either Pictures or Documents. Click Profile Settings , and then adjust any settings in the Capture , Adjust , and Page Options (for documents) or Enhance (for pictures) tabs as appropriate. Click Scan. When prompted, select Yes or No to add another page to the scan. The scan preview opens then click Return to close the preview and save the scan. Type a name for the scan in the Save As box. Click the Format drop-down list, select the file format you want, and then click Save.

Can"t get it to scan. not on wireless.HP 4780 photosmart

You are saying that the printer/scanner is directly connected to the computer?

You need to start checking the physical connection. Make sure that you can print to make sure that the printer is being recognized by the computer.

Second, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer/scanner driver using the CD that came with it. Most of the time, it's the driver that causing the problem.

Hope this helps and have a good day!

Duplex copying on HP Photosmart C8280 All-in-One Can't see how to do two-sided copy apart from scanning both sides and printing two-sided! Old HP printer could do 1-1 1-2 2-1 2-2 etc.

Open HP Solution Center, click on Settings, click on Scan Preferences, select "Scan both sides of original when using duplex feeder."

or
Open Solution Center, click on Scan Document, and you should have a check box towards the bottom of the window which would say 'scan both sides of the original document'. check that box and start scanning.

Populate the destination list You must populate the destination list in HP Solution Center for the Scan To function to work. Follow these steps to populate the destination list.
NOTE: HP Solution Center is the software that came with the product. You must make sure the software is installed on the computer for all the product functions to work correctly. The software is also necessary for completing this procedure. Install HP Solution Center if it is not already installed.
  1. On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (c01364735.gif ), click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center . HP Solution Center opens.

Printer will only print, not copy fax or scan

Hi,
It is possiblethat the all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work with Vista, after some update or other. You did the right thing by uninstalling and reinstalling. Make sure you have the correct driver from the HP site..

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP C6180) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Hope that helps.
