The Pison & Nut is located in the center rear bottom of the inside dishwasher tub. There is a filter screen along the back that you need to remove useually with 1/4 " socket or nutdriver and you may half to wiggle it around the heater ..... once you remove the plastic screen like filter you will see the pison & Nut ..... Just unscrew it with some needel noise or plyers and screw in the new one and re assemble

GSD4020Z07BB won't drain. replaced pump and piston nut

When you replaced the pump I am assuming you replaced the whole assembly that pumps water for the wash and drain. See item 310 in this diagram.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/GE-Parts/Dishwasher-Parts/Model-GSD4020Z07BB/0432/0130000/G0040034/00003?blt=15&prst=&shdMod=

If the dishwasher goes through the wash cycle then it was unlikely the thing that was faulty. The pump is shared by both the wash and drain cycle. It is likely the impeller (item 429) is not getting the pulse to change direction so that it draws water from the drain sump to the drain hose rather then to the wash arms as it does in wash cycle. The solenoid connection might be faulty or the controller output is not there.

Dishwasher isn't draining all the water out after cycle is complete. Checked all lines, no clogs and both pumps are working

YOU MAY NEED A SIMPLE DEVICE CALLED A PISTON AND NUT ASSEMLY. A RUBBER SEAL ON IT HAS FAILED.
TO LOCATE IT......OPEN DISHWASHER, REMOVE LOWER RACK AND IN THE REAR YOU WILL SEE A SCREEN COVER, REMOVE THAT SCREEN AND UNDERNEATH TOU SHOULD SEE A ROUND THING, UNSCREW IT AND INSPECT IT IN THE CENTER RUBBER SEAL, IF BAD REPLACE THE PISTON AND NUT ASSEMBLY

GE Profile Dishwasher does not drain. model #

I had a similar problem with a GE GSD5811 model. The hoses were clear, and the auxiliary pump worked fine. It turns out that it was the "piston" assembly that had basically disintegrated over time. This part diverts water to the pump during the drain cycle.

To check it, remove the mesh filter at the rear of the inside of the machine, by carefully unclipping the heater element from the back of the machine and removing the 4 hex-head screws securing the filter panel.) Unscrew the piston assembly from the tub, and pull it out. If the sealing plunger has deteriorated or is jammed, replace it. The part number for the "piston and nut assembly" for my machine (and probably numerous others) is WD24X10018. It should cost anywhere between $10 and 16, depending on where you shop.

Another possibility is a bad drain solenoid. (This is what actually triggers the piston assembly during the drain cycles.)

GE Dishwasher

Hi tucker19,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You just purchased a GE Dishwasher from Home Depot...Its a QuietPower3...and after you run it, there is detergent build up on the detergent dispenser lid and residue on dishes...HEAVY RESIDUE...Why????

Are you useing a dry soap? If so, try a liquid. Make sure it says DISHWASHER soap on it. Also, use half as much liquid as the dry. Some new d/w's can be tempermental that way. If it persists then use the warranty.

GE diswasher GSD4020Z02BB doesn't completely drain

rs, in the back under the screen is a piston nut assy. This is a common problem on these GE's. The seal on the assy. becomes warped or worn and when this happens we get water left in the tub after drain. It's an easy fix. The screen comes off and the pistion nut assy. simply unscrews. The part number is WD24X220. You can look it up on the net, inexpensive. Catriver..post back.
