when you turn on your pc there is normally something that says press whatever key for setup. press that key and then you would have to set the first boot or primary boot as cd and then save and restat the pc. please let me know if anything else is needed and i will be happy to help.

please rate me. thank you.

How do i download and install a windows OS to a computer with no OS on it?

You use a Windows or Linux CD/DVD. If you have a tiny computer that has no CD, you'll have to boot from a flash drive and use that. You can also use an external (USB) CD/DVD. But you need to set the computer BIOS to boot from the CD

There is a Bios setting, it isn't hidden though. Config > Display > Brightness (high/normal).

Try that.

I have a ibm thinkpad t20 and when the internal battery died the computer started asking for a password when booting up. I know how to reset the password on a desktop but this thinkpad has me stumped. Can...

the default BIOS password for this model is merlin but if that doesn't work you have a hard drive password set and may for lack of a better term be screwed. You can try zero wiping the harddrive from another system assuming you have the right cabling/adapters.

If the Hardrive is locked but the BIOS password works you can also acquire a new hard drive cheaper than a password cracker in most cases.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Check the following:

2 make sure that the cd disc you are trying is a bootable one

Stuck at IBM Thinkpad Splash Screen

Sound like a memory chip has failed. Try removing the memory, I believe these have on board, but not sure. If it doesn't have on board, you will need at least one chip in. If the problem is still there, try removing the CD drive, occasionally they can cause a no start. If it's not the memory or the CD drive, then try a bios flash. You will need to create a bootable disc from IBM's support site using a different machine (obviously).
If the bios flash doesn't fix it, them the problem will lie with the motherboard.

Hard Drive Installation

First you need to transfer all your files to disk cd or other. Then find out where the hard drive is. In that model I think its on the side unscrew the screws and it should slip out by pulling on it. then swap it over. When you turn it on depending where you got the hard drive it may need to reinstall windows if it dont boot up. The bios should pick up your new device/drive.
