Hi,

Take the 2 screws out of the back wall of the oven (inside) holding the element on. Then pull the element out and it will expose the wires and terminals (2). Unplug the 2 wires and plug them on the new element and mount the element back in the oven and your fixed. (make sure to turn the power off to the oven before you start unplugging wires.

How do I replace my oven element

Hello.

Theoven is a particularly sturdy piece of kitchen equipment. It can handle dailyuse and still perform as needed. But of course, as with everything over time, the oven can eventually have some things go wrong with it. The first signs maybe subtle, like your cake not being cooked through, or you may notice the oventaking much longer than usual to come to temperature. When looking inside theoven as it is heating, you may notice tiny sparks along the bake element. Anyof these symptoms may mean it's time to replace the bake element.Instructionsand tools below Screwdriver, Newbake element, Electrical tape, Fiberglass tape, Flashlight1 The first step when it comes to working on yourelectric oven is to turn the breaker off at your home's service panel, orbreaker box. This is extremely important, because most electric ovens require220-volt electricity to operate, and that voltage won't only hit you hard, itcan kill you. Place a sign on your breaker panel stating that you are workingon the electrical. As an added precaution, unplug the oven from the walloutlet. Remove the drawer below the oven chamber to see if the plug isaccessible from there. Otherwise, you may have to pull out the oven a bit tounplug it.2 Be sure that the oven has not been used in a whileand that the elements are completely cool. Remove all of the racks from insidethe oven. If it makes it more comfortable, you can even remove the oven door byopening it and sliding it off of the "arms" that hold it in place.3 Locate the bake element. It resembles a metal tubethat's been bent into a square shape and it is located on the bottom of theoven's interior. It can be quite dark inside the oven, so grab your flashlightand shine it to the rear of the oven's interior to locate where the bakeelement is connected to the oven wall.4 There will be two screws holding the bake element inplace. Remove the two screws and place them somewhere where you will not losethem. Now, pull the bake element out of the oven wall. There will be wiresattached to each "leg" of the bake element. Note: There is usuallynot much wire to work with, so do not pull too hard. Once you have about 4 or 5inches of wire exposed, place a piece of black electrical tape over the wire atthe point where it enters the oven. This will help keep the wire from fallingback inside the hole.5 At the point where the wires are connected to thebake element, you should see a screw. Remove the screws and separate the wiresfrom the bake element. Keep the old element for reference when shopping for anew element that matches the old one exactly.6 Install the new element by connecting one wire toeach leg of the element with the screws, just as they were with the oldelement. Wrap a layer of white fiberglass tape around the terminals. Push thewires back through the holes in the rear of the oven until the bake element isback in position. Use the screws to secure the new element to the oven wall, asbefore.7 Replace the oven door if you removed itearlier. Plug in the oven, then turn the breaker back on. Turn on the oven andtest the new element. You may notice some smoke coming off of the element as itheats up for the first time. This is ok, as these are just oils burning off ofit. The smoke will stop in a few seconds.Thanks.

My whirlpool electric oven broils but doesnt bake. model rf385pcwn1

Hi
The possibilities are a bad Bake element, a broken wire to the Bake element or a bad control board.
You have to remove the Bake element or to pull the range off the wall to perform the troubleshooting and find out which part is bad.
You have to inspect the wires, then remove the wires from the Bake element and check the element for continuity.
If there is nothing wrong then you have to check for 120VAC between each wire and ground and for 240VAC between the wires while the control calls for Bake. If there is no proper voltage then the control board has to be replaced.

However To remove old element, there are 2 bolts/screws on the back of the oven, attached to the element. There will be a silver bar holding the screws/bolts to the back of the oven.
Remove these screws/bolts with either a screwdriver or pliers by turning to the left.

After unscrewing the bolts, pull element out. It will have the electrical wires attached to it with a clamp on each side. Pull wire clamps up to remove the element.
Remove new element from box. Slide new element clamps up into the wires coming out from the back of your oven. (There will be "legs" to hold the element up from the bottom of the oven. These go on the bottom for support of the element).
Tighten existing screws/bolts onto oven through the holes in silver bracket. Do not tighten too much, just make sure is secured.
Turn electricity breaker on and plug oven into outlet. Turn on to 350 and see if it heats up.

How to change the bake element in a GE stove

Unplug or turn off all power to the oven. With most ovens you can then unscrew the element from inside the cabinet with either a screwdriver or a 1/4 nut driver. carefully pull the element out with the wires attached and dont let the wires go back through the holes. Unplug or unscrew the wires from the old element and plug into or screw onto the new depending on the type of terminal. If it is a push on type terminal make sure the connection is tight, if they are not tight pull the terminal back off and tighten the gap with pliers and recconect. put it back together and you are done. If by chance the wires are not long enough you will need to pull the stove out, remove the back panel and make the connections from the back. Good luck, it is not hard.

Replacing baking element for GE Truetemp

I just had the same problem. Just remove the rear panel of the range and unplug the two leads. Now go to the two screws inside the oven and remove them. The heating element will now come out and you can insert the new element the same way. Replace the two screws inside the oven and then attatch the two leads in the rear. Replace the rear panel and you are set to go.

Cooking element

You do not list a full model number. Typically a JBP78_____ uses a WB44X10013 bake element. Disconnect power to range. Take out two 1/4 inch hex head screws holding element in at back of oven. Pull element out a few inches into oven. Disconnect wires. Reverse to install. Not too hard if it is an exposed element. A bit more involved on ranges with "hidden" bake elements (which are under the floor of the oven).
