Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies
The problem lies with the scanner. First of all, open the transmit door and see if there is anything on the scan glass. Maybe a dab of white-out? or a piece or corner of a sheet of paper? If so, just clean it up with isopropynol or remove the obstruction. If you don't see anything, then trigger the scanner lamp by holding down the document sensor and the registration sensor actuators. Take a look at the light and look for a missing lcd at the place where the black line occurs. If you see that all the lights are working, then you will have to strip the machine down to se if the scanner lens is obstructed. This is highly unlikely. The 1st suggestion is more probably the solution.
