Question about Price Pfister 048NK00 Contempra Double-Handle Centerset Lavatory Faucet wit

Open Question

Working on my Price Pfister 048nk00. Faucet was manufactured in December of 04. Purchased and installed in summer of 05. Observation: Cold water side has developed a slow-drip leak. Removed handles from both sides. Hot water side is clean and looks almost new. Cold water side has all sorts of a black, moist, but a sandy consistency, type of deposit around the cartridge (it's not mold). Questions: What do you think this is? Can I solve the cold water leak by merely tightening down something, or is this a cartridge replacement issue? If a replacement is necessary, is there a site you can direct me to that has step-by-step instructions, or a site that has a manual with a series of illustrated steps? Thanks.

SOURCE: handle on faucet shuts off on its own

I had the same problem. The Price Pfister web site recommends removing the handle (unscrew the dome cap, then remove the phillips screw to get the handle off) then tightening the retaining ring (I used channel lock pliers on largest setting. It worked. However the retaining ring is plastic on some models, and they recommend replacing it with a brass one. I haven't taken that step yet, we'll see how it goes (mine is plastic).

SOURCE: I have a Price Pfister

Hi adheinen. In order to remove the side sprayer and hose from the diverter tee you must push the hose connector into the diverter and then push the grey ring in. Then pull out the hose connector. Here is a video showing exactly how this is done. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Price Pfister hot water runs slow

Check the supply line and valve to see if any dirt or foreign.matter got into the line or valve when you changed out your faucet. if this is not the problem you may have a faulty faucet. You may be able to back flush the faucet with a garden hose by leaving the hot side open, but you will get wet. If you used Teflon tape on the supply line and it is a compression fitting, some of the tape could be blocking the water. for more info go to

I installed Series 26 Avalon faucet. The water flow rate is very slow. All fittings to the faucet are new. Could the problem be a faulty valve ?

Remove and clean the Price Pfister aerator. Turn the water on after you remove the aerator and check the flow-rate. Many new Lavatory and kitchen faucets are now equipped with Eco friendly water saver aerators. if the flow is normal without the aerator, the faucet is OK. if you want more water flow from your lavatory faucet, you will need to buy one of the old style high flow aerators from your hardware store. If you remove the aerator and still get low pressure from both hot and cold faucets, you may need to replace the faucet. Call the Price Pfister warranty phone number that came with your faucet.

The cold water handle is frozen in place. When I swap out the hot handle with it, it turns fine. How can I, or can I, unfreeze this frozen faucet handle? Model is 048nk00

Can you soak it in a type of penetrating oil to maybe free it up. Once freed up they make a grease for stem's maybe apply some to stem for smooth operation.

Installed new faucet worked then all water stopped

If it has a side spray the diverter might be stuck. try flicking the spray handle on and off.
