The clock microchip inside you motherboard is run by a small lithium battery model # CR2032 ( the size of a small coin) this is embeded in the motherboard, this can be replaced with a new one by removing the PC's cover and looking for it on the motherboard .....once replaced the clock can be re-set to the current time....once the machine displays the Desktop screen....

> resetting to a different time?

How different? Is it wrong by an INTEGER number of hours,
i.e., one or two or three hours?

Or, is it going back to '1900' or '2000' ?

> why

Either a dead battery on your computer's motherboard,
or you have configured your computer into the "wrong" timezone.

How to change time and date on my pc

are running a Windows computer you should place the mouse pointer over the date/time, usually at the bottom right corner of your screen. Right mouse click on the date/time and scroll down to "adjust date/time" and left mouse click on that. A window will appear allowing you to reset the date/time. You can also change the time zone to your particular time zone. Some O/S will allow you to select internet time, which automatically keeps the correct time.

Have just bought an Elonex ebook colour 705EB and been trying to reset date and time as they are wrong... done as said on Manual go into Settings choose Time and Date setting... change the date and time...

Hope you read this message. I just noticed your message today on this site.
I bought an Elonex 705EB for my mum and had the same problem. It's not pressing the select key that changes the time. You must correct the time then press Menu button on yes (I had to press twice in row before it worked). I don't know why it works different from the manual. I found this out through a lot of trial and error!

My date and clock keep reverting to 2001 every time I close and reopen my computer?

Hi,

when you first power up the machine, go into the bios settings and check the clock in there, if this is wrong, it will reset your windows system time. Reset to the proper time and then when you go into windows your time should be correct, if not, correct it and restart. If the problem persists and the bios time resets itself, you will need to change your bios battery. This is a flat cell type battery, usually a cr2032. They are cheap and easy to replace and should sort your problem.

Hope this is helpful.

Where is the battery that powers the Internet time/ date?

The motherboard BIOS battery keeps the motherboard setting and the date and time correct just like a watch battery. This BIOS battery is usually a 3 volt lithium battery, it is a coin size battery approx. 20mm in diameter most likely a CR2030 battery.
If you have a Internet time program that connects to the Internet, it will synchronize the computer's time with the Internet time.

Try resetting the Internet Explorer by going to
Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Reset.

Also check whether the time and date of the computer is correct.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, try a different internet browser.

My modem is very slow

Hello,

Run a virus scan on your computer. If your virus and spyware protection are up-to-date, the scan will detect any offenders and remove them from your computer.
Unplug your modem and wait a minute. Many times resetting a modem will fix the slow Internet connection.
Perform a system restore on your computer. This allows you to undo any harmful changes that you have made to your computer that could be causing the slower Internet.
Free up space on your hard drive. Routinely removing temporary Internet files and programs that you no longer use will help keep your computer running efficiently.Test your connection. Many Internet providers will allow you to use their site to check to make sure that there is not a problem with your connection.

Take care.

My own advice is
1) Shutdown computer - power off the router for one minute - restart computer

2) Have more than one browser available for trouble shooting. Keep browsers up to date to incorporate all the
patches - I run Firefox, Google Chrome and IE. Keep one browser clear of add-ons and plug-ins.
Always have the browser you are using designated as default - even if you only have one

3) Download and run CCleaner daily - to keep your browsers fully operational
http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

4) Make sure Yahoo toolbar is up to date

5) Sign in here to reset cookies
https://login.yahoo.com/config/login_verify

6) If you have a Yahoo email address:- drop the '@Yahoo.com' from your username to sign in

7) Check the date and time are correct on your computer

8) If you have your settings to sign in automatically and recently changed your password check this out

9) Make sure your firewall has Messenger on the 'allow' list.

10) Set your status in Yahoo Mail to 'Offline'

RCA model DRC8335 Loosing the date and time

That will be a problem from the text side of the broadcast, the clock is set from the text transmission, ( in other words a problem from the transmitter ) possibly due to digital switchover or work on the transmitters. One possible solution would be to turn off auto clock setting, and/or auto summer time adjustment.

I have a e system desktop the clock keeps running late

Computers have an internal battery on the motherboard that helpd the board retain certain data when the computer is off. If the battery is low or dead it will cause this problem. The easiest way to replace the battery is to open the side of the computer when it is off and remove the battery from the battery holder on the motherboard. The battery looks just like a watch battery. Replace it with the same kind of battery (available at most drug stores) once you have replaced it turn on your computer and reset your clock.
