SOURCE: wireless connection problem
Check your wireless adapter and see if its properly installed. Go to the device manager.
Right click My Computer. Click on Properties. Click Hardware tab and click on the device manager button.
If there's a yellow question mark under other devices, check if it says network controller. Download and install the correct driver for your wireless card.

There are two procedures, Reformat your hard disk and start a clean installation (this is the easiest thing to do, however not the most convinient) and Using a genuine retail version [NOT a recovery disk] you could do some kind of downgrade [not as easy as it sounds]
I'll go back to solution number 1 (reformating the hard disk). Idearly, you'll want to back up your vista installation just in case things get messed up, then secondly you'll want to create a backup of all your files [dont worry about application data, you'll have to reinstall it all anyway]. After you're done, Insert your Windows XP disk, [it should ask you to press a key to boot from CD, if not you'll have to go into your BIOS and change the boot order], when you're into the setup, the guidelines are pretty simple, you'll have to run one of the formatting options in order to install XP [remember that formatting will erase everything from your hard disk, So I hope you did aBACK UP of all your DATA]...
As for procedure 2, Installing XP without reformating, well, let me know if you're up for the procedure and if you have an XP recovery disc
