The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Try going to "Search" on your computer. On Windows PC computers, you can usually find it on the lower left of your screen. Enter the word "Found" or "Found file", and the photo file should appear. If that doesn't work, go the folder on your computer that contains the most recent photos that you have successfully downloaded to the computer. Go to the last photo you downloaded, and copy that file number. Enter that entire number in the "search" window, and change the last couple of numbers in the file to something a few numbers higher. In other words, if your most recent photo on your computer from that camera is something like "DSC05300", change it to "DSC5310", and do a search for that number. If your recent photos are in the "found" file as the message told you, that "fake" number should match one of the photos you're looking for. If it appears in the search, it will show where that photo is located, and all your other "lost" photos will be in the same place. Good luck!

What software do I need to up load my Olympus SP-310 camera photos to my PC ? My PC crashed last month and was reloaded withy out the Olympus software.

You don't. You can download Olympus software from their web site at http://www.olympusamerica.com

Panasonic software is loaded. Drivers are up to date. Nothing else is running on the computer (that i know of) but the videos won't download. Got any thoughts?

I ran into this same problem today. Don't know if this will help, but here is what I found:

Video Cam Suite is NOT compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 3. Instead, I had to go into "My Computer," choose the video camera, which is treated as a separate drive, and copy everything to my computer's hard drive.

I found another work-around in which I used Windows Live Photo Gallery (part of the Windows Live download that comes with a very good e-mail program).

In Windows Live Photo Gallery, I chose FILE->Import from camera or scanner and followed the prompts. Nothing else I tried worked. Pinnacle Studio wouldn't do it, and Nero crashed.

Hope this helps.

Powershot a710is - connecting to device problem

Have you tried downloading with a different software?
* Picasa is one option (download from www.picasa.com)
Otherwise, you could try and import the photos using Window's Digital Camera Import Wizard

If any of these two methods work, then it is PhotoShot that has the issue. Otherwise, it might be the camera.

BTW, what OS are you using?

If your computer has a SD card reader, you might be better off putting your memory card into your computer and just copying the data.

Have you made sure your iPhoto is up to date? Perhaps a new update caused this problem.. Maybe you should try an older version of the software. Also, you might want to try other software. (I think you are on a mac?), you might want to try the software that came with the camera, if it works on your computer.

Go to the "Add and Remove Programs" in your Control panel.
Do a "Change" and do the 'repair program' utility.
That should fix it, good as new.
If that is not a possible option, try uninstalling. (if there is no "Change" and 'repair program') then Run the normal uninstall program.
