Hi there
The rebooting problem could be because of many reasons, most common reason specially on old PC's, is old capacitors on the motherboard. They need to be replaced.
Before you try to replace the capacitors I would request you to format the hard drive of your PCs (All data will be erased) .As you said that you have receive these PCs as donation ,I would request you to install a fresh copy of an operating system, that will solve two problem for you.
1)You will be able to break the code/password on these PC's 2)You may solve the rebooting problem as sometimes rebooting is due to softwares and computer virus issues.
Replacing the hardware components like capacitors is a tricky job,I would request you to take the help of a technician as it needs to be soldered on the motherboard.
If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be more than happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.
I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

Anybody know how to enable the AGP slot on an IBM NetVista 8305? Thanks.

1.
Shut down your computer and reboot to the BIOS. Reach the BIOS by pressing the Access IBM button on your keyboard or by pressing the F11 key.
2.
Use the arrow keys to scroll though the options to locate the video VGA graphic chip set. Follow the onscreen instructions to save the new BIOS settings.
3.
Turn off the machine after the BIOS settings have been saved. Unplug the power cord from the electrical socket.
4.
Open the side access panel of the Net Vista. On some models the panel will slide off; on others you may have to loosen the two thumbscrews holding it in place. If you have a desktop configuration instead of a tower, slide the top cover off the machine.
5.
Remove the existing AGP graphics card from the machine. You may need to use a screwdriver to remove the screw holding the card in place.
6.
Locate the proper slot for the new card. The new card may use the same AGP slot or use a PCI slot. If necessary, remove the dust cover for the selected slot with a screwdriver.
7.
Slide the new card into the slot. Screw the holding screw into place if the card requires one.
8.
Plug your monitor into the connection on the card. Plug the machine into the power source and turn the Net Vista on. Follow the onscreen instructions for installing the proper drivers if needed by your operating system. Replace the side panel when everything is working properly

Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time.

My usb ports don't work on my IBM Net Vista

Are you talking about the front ports or all ports?
If it's the front ones you're talking about - have they ever worked? Maybe they're shorted and/or incorrectly connected to the motherboard! If the problem is referred to the rear ports as well, try reinstalling the chipset drivers. You didn't mention a specific model so I can't provide you direct links. Look at IBM support site for more info -

If that doesn't work, you might have a faulty motherboard or some problem with your OS installation...

Good luck!

Hard drive says it is a n IBM Deskstar, the outside of the tower says Netvista, where do i look and to find out what is really in this thing and where can I download for free a user guide /manual.

you can get the system snapshot. you can use any external tool like pc wizard 2008 to get a complete configuration of your system.

if you donot want to use any external tool then there is an option in windows also.

just go to start->run-> msinfo32.exe

from this tool also you can get the system configuration completely at very high level.
